Duffy for the defensive solidity. Yatesy has looked nervy away from home in my opinion. Jones has to be in if fit. If not, Dicko left back and Chilvers centre half.

 

Birchall to come in for a reward of his superb performance when coming on against Cov. Grewy has said we will go all out attack so no need for Griff. Just bring him on last 20 if we need to hold a lead. Lines has to be in there and then finally JMW given a go on the left to get some balls in for Pope.

 

Williamson will terrorise their 40 year old centre half if he plays. I fancy him to score and then Popey alongside him should be a handful.

 

Bench: Yates, Chilvers, Griff, Shuker, Dodds, Tomlin, Hughes - Even though i'd feel a lot safer with Johnson on the bench.

 

Prediction... 3-1 Vale! Williamson, Pope and JMW.

I personally would start the team tomorrow that finished the game against Coventry. I particularly think Ben Williamson needs time on the pitch, and if he gets it we could have a real gem on our hands with him having a run in the team. Thoughts?

I can only remember the one win at Prenton Park, was it 2-1 when Jeff Smith scored. They only other time I can remember getting a point was when Alan Lee scored late 90s 1-1. Other than that I can recall a few beatings, I think Foyley scored first and David Kelly scored 2 we lost on another occasion!

If possible he looked even quicker at the weekend than last season. Needed to finish one of his chances, but I feel that'll come, especially feeding off Pope's flick ons.

Ben needs to be more assertive and have more CONTROLLED aggression - he could be a very good forward but he seems a bit too nice at times.

He needs a bit of the Bernie Wright in him - he doesn't need to **** people but look em in the eye and make them know he is there - all the match. The opponents need to crawl off that pitch knowing they have had a battle.

He can revert to being nice when we are in the premiership.

I didn't go to either of those games fella.

 

My only previous visit to Prenton Park was when England won the Rugby World Cup. 2003-04 season I think it was. We lost 1-0 that day. Was the season we just missed out on the League 1 play offs because Swindle and Harlepool conveniently drew with each other last day of the season.

 

We had plenty of chances to score but was just one of those days where our finishing was abysmal and the ball just wouldn't go in.

Yep, Tranmere have traditionally been a strong home team but at the moment they're not doing too well so my head says 1-1 but I hope Vale squeak it 2-1.

BIG chance for us to keep up our recent good form against a poor trnamere team. They've on ly won 1 in 8 and suffering a number of injuries......if we can get an early goal fancy us to win this

It's a difficult situation on who to choose.

 

Providing Jones is still injured, 3 of the back 4 picks itself. I'm not bothered who plays out of Yates and Duffy, but both have performed well this season.

 

Myrie is always dangerous, so he should be in contention. Loft has been one of our best players this season. Lines has undoubted quality. Griff has done his job well so far. Birchall played well against Coventry. None deserve to be benched.

 

Up top, it's Pope + anyone. Williamson was quality on Saturday, but a fit Lee Hughes is guarenteed goals. Dodds played well against Orient, and Tomlin needs a run of games to get his fitness back.

 

Add this to the likes of Taylor, Davis, Shuker and Mo and we have a competitive squad.

 

It's certainly better than the days where the choice was Danny Glover or Callum Willock.

I'm in two minds. He always seems to have more of an impact when he comes on rather than starts.
