Port Vale v Coventry City, 21 Sept. Pre Match/Match

None of the young ones, and the not so young, will have seen the Sky Blues at the Vale, their last visit was the 63/64 season. Nor will the gates of 17,567 home and 29,641 away be repeated. Let us hope it will be a peaceful affair, like the previous visit, pre-segregation days and the visitors took over the Railway Paddock with their Eton Boating Song. Within a few seasons they started their only spell in the top tier, 29 years in all, one of the reasons we have not seen them. How times have changed.

Coventry move on to seven points and climb out of the bottom four after beating Gillingham 2-1 this afternoon.Quite an achievement after their ten point deduction at the start of the season.

Should be a good game this Saturday.

I hope they remain on 4 points next Saturday.

We need to get a result on Saturday; ideally a win.

Won't be easy against a team which would be right up there if it wasn't for their points deduction.

Hopefully we will get another healthy gate of 8,500+ with Cov expected to bring around 2,500 fans.

With gates as they are, the club must be paying very well. Our average will be well above the 6,500 Smurf asked for.

Id like to know what benefit starting a thread we r broke does ,i tell u no benefit Norman needs to come out and quash such nonsense .

7 games 7 points so generally a poor start to our league 1 season ,it is vital we improve the squad as at present its not looking good !

Folk like me have enjoying seeing the away end with someone in it,it is imperative that we stay up .

As for the team we aint far away but we cant keep giving away cheap goals !

Thank u Norman ,it would be nice if u released a rallying call.

Were sitting in mid table. How is it a poor start? Where did you think we would finish?

It's a poor start. 2 wins in 7 wont see us finish mid table. You can be sure of that.

Were going to contend with injuries, suspensions, congested fixture lists over winter.

These fairly decent overall performances need to start yielding points this month before we fall further.

performances have been ok ish but the results every time are being effected by woeful defending . if we need to score three goals every game to stand any chance of picking up up any points we are going to have problems . this saturdays game is a must win for me and against an in form cov side it will not be easy . i believe a game similar to wolves is on the cards but this time i hope it is we that take our chances and cov who have the tough luck.

A draw is the minimum we need on Saturday. At the moment' date=' Coventry are one of the teams below us, and we must take as many points as possible off these teams if we are to survive in this division. Hopefully, after the final game, there will still be at least 4 teams below us.[/quote']Not too worried about Coventry, on their form they will be in the Playoffs, but who knows what will happen with their off-field activities/Fair Play etc. Finding our best combination appears to be progressing, defensive frailties need to be cured, then mid table should be within our grasp. I expect a draw, or an easy win for some stupid reason.
