I may be totally wrong on this, and if so - apologies in advance, but is it possible that MA's salary is part of Vale's overall spending that is limited by FL rules (the reason we didn't sign Doumbe etc). If it is, then maybe he has to wait for a presumably increased salary on a new contract because Vale cannot spend more. Does anyone know if this COULD be the case (not saying it is, but..)

I was under the impression that it is only the players wages that are limited by the FL % of turnover. I assume the other 40% relates to management and administration costs. Does anyone know what is happening about the contract, and does it matter? Que sera, sera.

Regardless of what is or isn't going on regarding MA contract, he is our manager for as long as he wants to be or for as long as Smurf wants him. The last thing we need as we are trying to establish ourselves in league 1 is this type of thread, it's just unnecessary. IMO footy managers shouldn't have long contracts anyway, due to the fluid nature of the game judged entirely on results, easy in, easy out is the best way. As we know (with the exception of Pope and the fans) there is very little loyalty in the game and as long as we all acknowledge that if/when MA decides to move on then it shouldn't be any type of disaster.

Whilst Popey has been a revelation and plays for his boyhood club, that hardly justifies him to be singled out as the only player with loyalty.

Chris Birchall offered to play for nothing when we first tried to get him.

Adam Yates has been here longer than Popey and is a superb loyal stalwart.

Doug Loft has been loyal to us this season.

Even Marc Richards was loyal to us up to a point.

 

Off the pitch Mark Grew has been loyal for many a decade!

Loyalty extends to the size of the contract and the salary nothing more nothing less.

Tbh honest I reckon Adams is waiting to see how we do in this league because obviously the better we do the more money he can demand which is right to do, we all want more money for doing the same job dont we? Adams is in a great position because even if we fot relegated the 'messiah' will still be offered a new contract just probably the same as he's on now so by waiting its in his best interest.
