Should there be a welcome for their coach? Once our record signing at £40k, the one and only Peter Farrell?

 

Yeah would be nice to give him a good reception. He and Rosler were in the running for the vale job recently; Peter went on to play for a number of clubs in Europe after he left the vale and was highly regarded as a coach heading up the Bolton academy before getting involved at Brentford.

Had to laugh about people on Brentford's board thinking they're a "scalp". Are they on drugs!?. Brentford FC will never EVER be considered a Scalp by anyone!

 

They have a half decent side. Nothing more! The way they are talking on their board is funny. They seem to think they're Bayern Munich!

There will be a few at Brentford who watched them play in the top tier in the 30s and 1946/7, but they will be more realistic about the current team.

I think it will be a big crowd. I remember people saying we wouldn't get anywhere near 8000 for the Northampton game. I remember everyone buying tickets for that game, yet for some reason, some think that improving the ticketing options is going to hit attendances.

Not many will remember or recognise him, remember playing oxford 20year ago watching there coach warming up with the keeper , thought I recognised him got my programme out and it was gorden lee, no one around me all game mentioned him... first manager I remember getting us promoted

Even so, despite of their few seasons in the top flight that recent poll measuring the size of clubs deemed that we were infact a bigger club than Brentford, by one place to be precise haha. When was the last time Brentford even played in the second tier, was it the 50's. Nah they're a good team but certainly not a big club, I'd put them at probably exactly the same sort of stature as Vale. They just think they're bigger than us because we've unfortunately just spent 5 long years in L2.

I think they managed the odd season in tier 2 in the 80s, we gained with our seasons in the 2nd tier before WW1, whereas they entered the league with the start of 3rd South and a fairly rapid rise into the top tier. The 5 day week affected the smaller London clubs, where people went direct to the ground from work on a Saturday. We are similar clubs, but their prospects may be better with their planned new ground funded by the sale of their current ground for housing at London prices, their new ground also includes a housing development. But that is a few years off, we are likely to be competitors for a while yet. Think what they like, it is on the field that counts.
