Why? Since when can't we compete with chesterfield.

Agreed, if we can't compete with a L2 side, then Smurf wants hanging from Burslem Town hall until he gets a part time job to increase his spending power.

I want be challenging for the Prem in a number of years, but if not being able compete with Chesterfield is all we've got look forward to, we may as well give up and chop ourselves now.

It would be nice to challenge for the prem, however, one step at a time. Some posters on here need to take a reality check methinks.

Since Mark Richards went there on double his Vale wage.

Dosent explain anything. Look at our position then and compare it to now. Back then we probably couldn't compete with chesterfield, but now a league above with backing from smurf we should be able to blow them out of the water.

One step at a time, we are moving forward very well with Smurf. Organization gets more results than throwing money about. It will need someone to throw £40M into the club to challenge for the Prem, maybe when Smurf has built the club up, somebody maybe tempted.

When Richards left us, Chesterfield were probably banking on gates of around 6,500. They had been in League 1, had a new ground and enjoyed some big derbies. Last year they averaged 5,456. With fair play rules they will be cutting budgets and offering lower wages now, methinks.

People talking about competing with other teams should look at our signings so far.

We have competed above our weight so far in the signings we have made in my opinion and have done ever since Norman Smurtwaite has been at the club.

If Micky wants Navarro i suspect he will get him.

I think we have had a really good summer so far in the transfer market and i believe it will get even better.
