I am not trying to tell MA how to do his job BUT........Ideal player who fancies the Vale....Available FREE..........Experienced at this level and above.........Still relatively young......Whats MAs problem........:unsure:

 

I'm sure MA & his staff have seen him play far more than you so who's best placed to make a judgement? My judgement will be made after I've seen 10 games of the season and not before.

Very possibly. Most of the rumours about Carter were coming out of other sources than the Vale, whether it was agent talk or the local press in Cheltenham. From the sound of what Sproson said, it doesn't look like Micky has made any firm enquiries since January. Either way, Carter must have been aware of interest from other clubs like Vale when he decided to turn down a new contract at Whaddon Road and chance his arm elsewhere. You wonder if he was banking on Vale making him an offer.

 

To use a Rudge-ism, Micky will have a number of irons in the fire. Perhaps Carter was a back up, a second choice if he couldn't get his number one target. Perhaps a player who he originally thought he didn't have much chance of signing has become available. Maybe he does still want Carter and it's a negotiating position.
