I didn't want Purse, no.

Hughes is a player I have always wanted to play for Vale and you can't argue with his goal scoring record.

I just don't want Fuller here I have never really rated him when I have seen him. There's no way he will come here though.

So you dont rate a player that Stoke fan's (educated and not) rate as one of there best players of all time?

Why do we as football supporters use wages as an excuse for not wanting a player?

One, we dont know how much hes willing to have. James Beattie played with him in the premier league on good money and now plays at Accrington!

Two, we leave that up to Micky. He will know his budget soon enough and whether or not a player like Fuller is worth the gamble.

Three, none of us know how much we are willing to spend on players wages. None of us.

For all we know Fuller could demand 7k a week.

For all we know he would accept 3k a week.

Hes obviously linked with us and therefore on pure footballing talent alone he would be a massive asset for us in League 1 and i honestly believe its this type of player that Micky will sign and not the likes of Marlon Pack and Maghoma, who have no higher league experience.

I think we will make 5 or 6 signings. Maybe 1 from a lower league but the majority will have had Championship or premier league experience.

A few will be pleasantly surprised this summer i think.

10 thumbs up there ST. The first few points you raised there are things which are really starting to wind me up. For all we know we might be able to afford 7k a week wages now. We're in unexplored territory here, no debt and owners with money to spend.

I am looking forward to a surprise, I hope you are right, but I remain cautious. Notts have just dropped their budget 30%, Swindon 50%, I prefer to stay within our means.

Well, bring in 5 players @ £7k, costs £1.75M plus NI etc. say £2M, let us see where that comes from.

Fuller would be superb, you'd have to be mental to think otherwise. I do though think wages could be a stumbling block and I also think there are clubs in the Championship/ established League One clubs he'd prefer, that would be interested in him

That would take all the 5000 ST money plus a thousend more, now we just need 5000 pay on the day fans to cover the rest of the player/staff wages plus elec bill etc .. SIMPULS :)

Let's not forget the Financial Fair Play rules as well. From next season, this will limit the amount spent on wages to 60% of turnover, which if breached, could result in a transfer embargo.

I think this is why wilds is focusing on youth development and off field venture to generate cash. In that I haven't read the artical, I assume that the turnover isn't just gate reciepts but also sponsorships, and money made by other ventures at Vale Park. As much as people will curse, is it time to consider a stadium sponsor if anyone is willing ? The reason being that would help boost us also.

So tell me, what is "Within our means"?

For all you know, Ricardo Fuller may be within our means and 2 others on similar wages may also be ok.

However, it may not.

Thats my point.

You dont know. I dont know. So shouldnt we be commentating on players footballing attributes instead of whether or not we can afford players wages?
