Given that League 1 consists of Walsall, Crewe, Shrewsbury & Tranmere (for those of you who remember the 80's) We could be the mosted hated club in the division!!!:D

We are going SMASH them and their grandad manager into the middle of next year!

 

Had a look at their squad, and I wouldn't have any of them in our starting line up. As for losing Popey, he signed a 2 year extention a few weeks ago so I highly doubt it!!

 

They are going to go down next year.

Having lived here(Shropshire) for nearly 20 years now, people do tend to lack common sense around here and more so Shrewsbury fans.

 

Reading those comments they convieniently forget we've spent more seasons than them at a higher level in the last 15 years. Of course going up any division will be some level of step up in quality but I'm confident we can make a good fist of it next season!

 

To Shrewsbury's credit they probably are one of the best run clubs in the league, as you never hear of them in a financial mess or being short of dough like a lot of clubs in recent years(which is a credit in itself), however I think perhaps too prudently so at times. They only offered 3 or 4 of their promotion winning side 1 year deals in the summer(Neal being one) and they left, Turner is well known for it apparently.

 

I look forward to renewing our rivalry with them next season, we have some interesting games coming up with the like of them Crewe, Walsall, possibly Wolves etc!

I have customers who find themselves in the unfortunate position of being Shrewsbury fans, they have been banging on about us losing Popey all season! Running scared now, barely stayed in League 1 themselves!

Shrewsbury will struggle next season, more so than us I reckon, their squad has two of our relegation men in it for a start! They've 'floated' this year but with no likely Pompey, Bury, Hartlepool in their next season they will find it tough.

i'm all for rekindling the mini-rivalry with shrews (much more interesting than crewe!) but let's wait until the season's over at least before we start a slanging match? i too think we might struggle to be honest - a season like shrewsbury have just had would do me fine - flirting close enough with relegation to keep in interesting but pulling well clear a few weeks before the end of the season. although if we went straight up again i wouldn't complain!

I hear sjoke fans, Crewe fans, shrews fans nd many many more, trying to tell me that we are little skint Port Vale...

 

When the truth is... We are debt free, we have new owners that have very good business minds, ambition, pride and have openly stated that, they will give our manager any players he wants!!....

 

And having a manger that is respected for all of his promotions at other clubs and knows what players he needs to do the job, I would be very scared little Shrewsbury because I have a feeling next season we could be challenging for the top 7, if Micky gets wht he wants!!

Matter of time before we overtake Shrewsbury again.

 

They are stagnating and we have already caught them up. We've got the momentum going now in terms of the 'feel-good' factor surrounding the club; attendances are rising and I feel with good backing from the owners we'll compete with most clubs in League 1 for decent players imo. We're now an attractive proposition which hadn't been the case for the last 10+ years.

 

Looking forward to some decent away days next season and games at Vale Park with more than the usual 200 away fans.
