Bigger crowds in League One?

Recommended Posts

My friend, who lives near Worcester, went to the County Ground last night to watch Swindon play Crewe. The stadium official announced the Crewe following......77!!!!!!!

Who says we will have higher crowds in the higher league?

The Vale would take more than 77 if we were playing in Mongolia on a Thursday night in November.

That lot up the road would struggle to take 500 to Stockport and Macclesfield (where they belong)

Almost certainly, what's the highest away following at VP this season? 700-800 vs Rotherham? With respect we'll be replacing Accrington, Morecambe, Fleetwood, Barnet with the likes of Sheffield, Coventry, Shrewsbury, Walsall, hell Crewe might even bring a couple of hundred if we're in the higher league and they're doing well.

It'll be a million times better unless we can't hack it at the higher level.

If we had just been to Wembley, had nothing to play for whatsoever and were away at Swindon, midweek, we would have a similar away following.

Dont get carried away thinking we are the dogs.

Ive been in grounds with roughly 100 Vale supporters.

Yes, we are having a great time at the minute and long may it continue. Dunna kid yourself that that wouldnt happen to us though. It would.

Only on current form. Were only 65 of us at Hartlepool 5 years ago though.[/quote

It was on a Tues night though, and we were bottom of the league.

I was there! Chris Herd scored to put us 2-0 up at half time. It was 2-0 untill the 75th minute when Krystian Pearce got sent off, we then lost 3-2! Typical Vale!! :)

Indeed. Not often I say this, but we were done by a very poor ref on that night. Keith Lowe had a goal disallowed when their defender and keeper collided which would have made it 3-0 and Pearce should never have been sent off. Tobias Mickaelsson was mustard in that game, his only good game for the Vale.

There's plenty of dross in League One.

Home or away games at MK Dons, Colchester, Leyton, Crawley, Stevenage and Yeovil won't be seeing many full houses.

The place to be for clubs our size is the Championship.....nearly every club in there is a "name".

There was an 89 at Oldham not so long ago....it was the last Friday before Xmas and we were crap at the time!

But it just shows that our support is really not that different from most clubs. People will watch winning teams, simple as that.
