Birchall international duties

Recommended Posts

I think its good for him. Bit of a shame it has come just as he has got into the team. But we have enough to cover for this.

Totally agree and in the long-term it is also good for Vale to have players performing on the International stage.

We certainly gained some good PR from Birchall's World Cup performances (I don't think anyone was saying he shouldn't play for his country, then) and arguably that publicity inflated his transfer price (was he really worth £325k?) so we profited financially from it too.

Crucial part of the season. Birchall on international duty. He has done well recently. He is needed in the squad it's a joke that he has to get pulled away for these minor friendlies. Thoughts please .................................

How about when a Vale players gets called up to play for his country Micky does what Fergie does.Claim they can't play due to injury which by strange coincidence happens to clear up just in time for an important game.

I believe it's an FIFA agreement that players should be avaible for international duties to their national teams on certain dates. I believe it's a fair system. It's better then when the club manager could deceide who could go away and play international matches.

Tell that to Alex Fergusson and Arsene Wenger!!!

Because of the postponement, I believe that Morsy will not be available for Friday and neither is Birchall likely to be. He plays in Lima. Peru on Tuesday and cannot foreseably be back in the UK before Thursday, possibly Friday. Would be risky, would it not?

The difference is Fergie and Wenger pay their players a lot more than we do ours. Oh and the competitions they play in are a bit better as well.

What ****** me off is he isn't Trinidadian' date=' bet the first time he went there was to play for them.[/quote']

And most Irish players aren't Irish! I think it should be your birthplace or where you have lived for the majority of your life, nothing else.

What annoys me is that ITV have "Irish" pundit Andy Townsend commentating on England games and BBC have "Irishman" Mark Lawrenson for the England games. To cap it all, not so long ago, we had a Match of the day for the ENGLISH Premier league with a studio of and Irishman and Scot and a Welshman.
