Doncaster Rovers v Port Vale - Match Thread

Featured Replies

So aerially Byrne and the other, forget his name used play for Huddersfield  strength is in the air  so he plays Sherif who isnt particularly good in the air.

I dont understand what he was trying achieve throughout the game, ,if a team has a overload in midfield a diamond 4 to Vales 3 you match them up .

What was Gabriel job last night im.sure for Blackpool he used bomb up the right all game ,at one point he ran through the midfield with the ball ,and the other players were still at the back as knackered or C .B .A  .

,Come on the set up was garbage ,couldnt he see E Campbell needed removing after 20 mins ,i mean the lad was all over the shop ,why not go too a four, headley can play left side , bring Garrity on with Ojo Walters and Shipley ,whats the point in Archer im seeing nothing ,when he enters the field whats his job ,does he shoot at goal ,does he create he does neither ,humpfries switches off if thst Lee found his range he could have 2 long range goals because of lionels switch offs

Garrity improved us ,lad who has being injured, and we got manage his mins , and not at full pelt along with CH our best combatitive player Hernandez ok Gauci ok the rest mediocre and boring ...

The rest hang your heads in shame ,thats a atrocious performance on par with Walsall at home last season ,at least at Bpool we scored a few ,

Brady scared stiff of teams, there no good jon, why not try Garrity and Hernandez up front, as Garrity will try win balls in the air (and i can guarantee you he will put the hatd yards so they cannot get out easily ) ,then hopefully Hernandez can dart through and score or win a pen .

What a boring side we are

Do you realise we bottom .

Go down having a go not performing as did last night

It was feeble

This squad is seriously lacking in quality in midfield

This is the major problem.

If the midfield can't create, we can't score.

If the midfield can't control, it puts pressure on the defence.

It begins there for me, there are some qualities in the attack and defence (though not many), but they are constantly isolated up top or exposed in defence because the midfield is nowhere to be seen, doesn't "win duels" in Bradyspeak, can't get the ball forward or offer much of an attacking threat for the forwards.

But it's no surprise when a pairing in our midfield also happens to be one that got relegated from this division last season.

Are we really any better under Brady in comparison to Moore? (FA cup apart).

Bradford at home, Doncaster away, Exeter at home are three of the worst performances I’ve seen.

(don’t get me wrong, we’ve been rubbish under both managers).

I feel like the quality has got even worse as the season has progressed though.

It also feels like the squad has got worse as the season has gone on. We’ve got no threat or ounce of quality upfront without Cole. For all the Byers haters, the last few months has proven he’s a million miles ahead of our other midfielders.

Transfer window was bad last summer, dreadful this last one. What is the next window going to be like? Changes need to be made.

Last night was dire. Donny did their homework on us. Aggressive press at all times, move the ball quickly and slicky. Movement off the ball so they always have a pass on. Bully our players. As soon as one of our 'better' players deemed a threat has the ball, get 2/3 players on them and force the error. Pinpoint our left side. Harass our 'midfield'. Play with intensity.

Its basic stuff, and what we rarely seen to do our selves, and teams have us well sussed with these tactics. They apply them and we are clueless with what to do and how to counter it .

We can't keep the ball and just give it back to them over and over again. So we are constantly on the back foot and 'attack' goes to defence in literally one second.

Bolton stood off which was why we managed a result. Tactically inept from their manager.

But we've seen time and time again this season that an aggressive press, bullying and quick movement off the ball rips us to shreds. This is made worse by having an inept midfield.

Something recurring with Brady in these games I noticed is doing 3 or 4 subs all at once. Granted, the team has usually played terribly at that point to warrant it, but it's so regular at the moment. It strikes me as him being very frustrated and unhappy with the squad, which is strange because we win a game and he comes out and says this is the best group he's ever worked with!

Anyway, the issue for me with using all those subs is that basically it's going from Plan A to Plan B and the game is as good as bust then if it doesn't work out. We have 5 subs but the last one or two are nearly always to pull somebody off who is knackered and give some returning player or player lacking minutes some time on the pitch.

Not to sound like Brian but Brady's game management here is pretty bad and almost as bad as Moore's.

I want to believe that with a summer of recruitment it will be better but all I have to go on is hope because everything up to now is not giving me a lot of faith that either a) the players come in are the right ones or b) Brady can get a consistent tune out of players, whether poor or average.

A 3 or 4 man change is a clear statement that he got the starting 11 wrong - in my opinion.

I'm still not convinced by Brady, his set up in games seems all wrong to me, 3 at the back does not work for us with this group, which has been proven for a long time, but we persist with it.

Campbell since coming in has been individually responsible for at least 5 goals, keeps getting picked, I can see he's not ready for league football and possibly never will be.

Shipley consistently is dreadful, keeps getting picked, why isn't he seeing that. For me he was at fault for the goal last night, left his man to go and help Headley, when he didn't need to as their player had his back to goal, then when the ball went to the man who fired it across, Shipley was too far away and half-heartedly tried to block, again.

Talk of formations is moot if none of the players we have (bar Hernandez) can control a ball without it getting caught between their feet or running away from them, pass a ball to one of their mates, or hold onto it for more than a split second. Quality of professional footballers was shocking last night. The only excuse might have been the conditions, because Doncaster looked equally poor I thought.

Well what a fooking [emoji90]show that was, get rid of the bloody lot of em !! None good enough for league 2 ....getting paid for that load of garbage it's embarrassing....this lot wouldn't finish top half in the National league !! Call themselves footballers [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].

And the worrying part for me is that the two teams vying not to finish bottom are us and Jon Brady's previous club.

Hope I'm not reading too much into that.

I think your putting two and two together and getting ten there,he left Northampton a year ago,I can't see how he's had a influence on why Northampton are just above us in the league 🤔😁
