So it will be Warm standing water then ?   Heaters don't get rid of standing water, they get rid of frost.   Standing water is gotten rid off by an army of labourers with brushes . Even after the water has been brushed off, if it continues to rain the water will just puddle again .

Shame we spent so much and believed that the new pitch would be far superior to the old pitch - it isnt .

Never mind its Thursday and they have till 10am Saturday to get rid of some standing water and prey it stops raining.  Me I'll just prey we can score a goal if its on.

What would the pitch be like without the new drains? Wetter winters need them.

I remember one match played on a carpet of snow against Chester,  if I remember correctly it finished 4-4

Personally I think the criticism of Byers is justified & it's not difficult to be our "best player" among this shower and results / performances have been just as bad when he's played.

You mention Ojo but Byers does exactly the same when he plays but that's acceptable ? I have no idea on figures but how many assists does Byers have this season ?

For someone who allegedly is among our top earners and also captain I would expect more for the money.

I think it worth pointing out that we have only scored 20 goals in 27 league games so nobody has many assists, or goals for that matter. I wish I knew where to find accurate assist stats for this league it would probably be interesting to know where our few goals have mostly come from.

We spent the entire first half of the season mainly relying on wing backs for service into the box our midfield was mostly set up to defend. Unfortunately our wing backs have struggled to stay fit so we have had little consistency in those positions.

Byers immediately looked better to me when we changed to 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 but unfortunately he got injured. I have my issues with byers I was expecting a lot more from him but I don't think we have ever used him properly and now the team is totally devoid of confidence and lets be honest nobody has performed well this season. Player of the season is going to be interesting I can only really think of john who has shown any consistency.

If it keeps on raining like this I doubt the game will be on.

My thoughts exactly.

Yeh  money well spent on them drains.👎

One less thing to worry about: Gray has trained and as yet hasn't appeared to turn around and leave yet before kicking a ball.

Brown looks impressed seeing Gray strike the ball in training like he's learning a thing or two...

Yep, I was at that game and as @pensioner says, the lines were painted blue, snow covered the whole of the pitch.

I remember playing for Reginald Mitchell Primary School as a 10 year old against Maryhill Primary in an inch or two of snow, it was a Saturday morning, late 64/early 65.  Maryhill CPS is on top of a "mountain", open to the elements, we won 5-0 and I got one of them from left wing.  We helped shovel the snow off the lines.

Don't know how we've got onto playing in the snow as I haven't read the thread but it's fun and a distraction from current Vale woes!

I would prefer to play with Stockley up front and get in the lead before we defend

Small problem with this - we can't score and they make defending lapses - so the opposition waltz through and score.

We got onto snow because folks were mentioning their may be a bit of standing water on our brand spanking new top of the range pitch . The people today cannot imagine the fun of playing, or watching, a match on snow. Many years ago we went to Wedgwood with our kid to see him play a match but the Ref called it off at the last minute . Us parents decided to have a dad and his lads match - Fun, youve never seen so much crying with laughter . Tears were streaming down cheeks by watching owd men and young lads performing in "posh shoes" or wellies on a slopey snow covered pitch. We got a few strange looks after in the club.

Brady said in his press match interview that our current topscorer at the club has just 2 goals. That's because we have sold Curtis 3 goals and cole 8 goals in january window and loaned paton 6 goals out to St Johnstone and faal 3 goals gone to Cheltenham. I think brown and croasdale are now our topscorers and both of browns goals came in cup games.

Mistake

Lethal partnership by our standards that.

Our top goalscorer in all competitions is actually Waine with 4.
