Not sure the purpose of it from Walsalls perspective either to be honest. It’s clear the manager doesn’t particularly rate/trust Rico as otherwise he’d use him so not sure why they haven’t terminated the loan from their end either. They do play Northampton in the trophy tonight so maybe he plays in that.

I agree with the ale and vale podcast re Gauci. The difference between him and Amos is imo not big enough to justify the wage, so I’d rather us send him back and use that money on a first team centre half or winger.

... which neither you nor the Ale and Vale lads know, in either case.

Unless you are telling us that you actually do know their wages?

And whether or not Villa are continuing to pay a proportion of Joe Gauci's wages?

My own view (with no knowledge of the wages involved) is that Australia have no more published fixtures, so Joe Gauci and Ben Amos competing for the No. 1 spot is entirely adequate for the rest of this EFL1 season.

But Marko Maroši is contracted for this season and next, so imho the only realistic way to move him on is on loan, with the other club paying only a proportion of his wages.

Just to bring this debate forward, the original contention from Powerline and some others is that we should send Joe Gauci back to Villa, and retain Amos as No. 1 with Maroši as backup for the rest of the season.

In my view, Maroši is not an adequate backup for EFL1, should Ben Amos be out long-term for any reason, as he was at the start of the season.

So, to be serious about having a good shot at staying in EFL1, we need to retain our two best goalies competing for the No. 1 spot.

It's a fact that Australia currently have no more published fixtures during the EFL1 season -

But, as has been pointed out (with characteristic winning charm), there is an international break 23-31 March to include 2 international friendlies, and it is quite probable that Australia will schedule 2 friendlies during that break in preparation for the World Cup.

And Australia may well call up Joe Gauci to travel to those 2 friendlies, wherever they may be.

Vale currently have one game, away at Wycombe, scheduled during the international break 23-31 March.

The summary of the above is that there are excellent reasons to retain our two best goalies, Amos and Gauci, competing for the No. 1 spot, and hence the club should try to loan out Maroši in order to trim the wage bill.

If we could get Marosi out then I would agree but I imagine no one will take him and cover his wages

Richards is starting for Walsall tonight.

Been watching this half on Sky Sports+ and all I can say is assuming there is a recall clause we should do it at half time. Walsall are playing him in a front 2 with Jamille Matt and all they are doing is just lumping the ball in the air constantly. Sadler is a bigger footballing dinosaur than DM based on this. Rico is getting absolutely nothing out of this loan so it’s time to put an end to this farce.

Keshi Anderson terminated contract at Brum.

Good signing for a L1 team looking to play with wingers 😙

I don't think he would join us as I imagine he might have other suitors but if he did he would be reunited with G Hall given they were teammates at Birmingham.

We have no chance unless a player of this calibre wants to take a 6 month deal to perform miracles and putting themselves in the shop window.

Nobody is in that Walsall team the way they’re playing. Just constantly hoofing it up in the air. The one time he had the ball at his feet he set up a goal for Kanu though.

On a separate note Walsall have former Vale keeper Sam Hornby in goal, good god he is absolutely honking.
