I do expect one or two to come in but not many. Firstly with the squad we have we should be doing better than we are. We've also ended up with an unbalanced squad in terms of age. Footballer normally peak from 23/24 until about 29/30. I think we have about 8 players in that bracket and there are question marks about whether a couple of them are good enough. Someone posted about Paton and I'd agree his set pieces and shots per game are good. However,  Cole rarely shoots off target and Paton rarely shoots at the goal. 2 league goals in 21 starts (including his loan) and 44 appearances isn't pretty, even if some of those games were as an inside forward, rather than through the middle (when Moore played 343 thee width still came from the wingbacks). Debrah is another in that age bracket. We have a lot of players either side of those ages, more to the higher end. For the medium and longer term we need to lower the age profile. That's incredibly hard to do in January, as clubs are generally offloading older and younger players. I'd imagine a temporary fix with loan signings is more likely than permanent signings. Ultimately to stay up we need existing players to play to their potential.  There are a lot of players in our squad who have been important players in league 1 promotion sides and in The Championship who have only played to that level during odd games the season.  Players with 200 plus league 1/ Championship games should be more consistent than one decent performance in 4 or 5 games. If Brady can get that consistency there is still an outside chance.

Really we need another winger and another striker. Easier said than done. But we need to be scoring more if we want to stay up. Better performance, however we are still lacking in the final third.

How fookin rude! We all know Jesus is great with crosses - so he's a striker for sure.

I do love the whole pantomime of the Ronan Curtis situation.

The drama, the good guy turns bad narrative… love it. Football is an emotional game so it’s fun to lean into it.

The reality is probably way more boring:

- we never really gave Ronan a sustained chance in his favourite position and he will blame DM for that and he probably does feel like he wasted 2 good years where he personally feels like he hasn’t been able to demonstrate his ability (he’s a sportsman, I like that he has that edge and isn’t just about the money)

- he has a young family and probably wanted a move back down south. He has lived down that way previously, I’m sure his wife didn’t love being up here.

- Plymouth will stay up and have offered him a 2.5 year deal that we wouldn’t have done… we would probably have dropped him like a hot potato at the end of his contract

- that move was probably initiated a while ago and given the geography and contract length, Brady coming in would have had zero chance of changing his mind

- should he have said he wasted 2 years in his interview. Cold hard light of day is he now has to win over the Plymouth fans who are not overly excited about his signing. It was a bit of a silly thing to say but he’s not the smartest bloke I wouldn’t imagine. There are also lots of examples of him being a decent bloke, the Ale & Vale lads talk highly of him.

- Brady is 100% right that we shouldn't have people here that don’t want to be. It was a very smart thing to say in the interview.

All very normal course of business in football.

Will we miss him… probably a bit. When he did play in his favourite position he flattered to deceive a lot of time - but he did score some really important goals for us, so we like him… and he is a character and we like them.

Hes not the player he was before his injury, but we never really got to see him under a manager that plays to his strengths.

It’s probably a win win for everyone if we managed to get six figures for him. What we have to do now is reinvest wisely.

Whatever we got was devalued by whatever we had to pay for Moore.
