I respectfully think they're wide of the mark with that opinion.

One is a 35 year old who looks like an accident waiting to happen, and was bought in to be a backup in L2. The other is a 25 year old who was signed for £1.25m less than 2 years ago by a Premier League club and regularly gets called up into a national team squad going to the World Cup. I can't see Brady sending back his compatriot in a hurry.

I can’t see Brady doing it either but I’d do it personally. The money and national team mean nothing. Australia are crap and he doesn’t start. Uche went for over £1m, as did Jordan Slew.

Amos isn’t great but he’s better than when we had Stone and Stevens, he’s just largely a no frills solid keeper. Did well back end of last season. Couldn’t care less about his age as I’m only bothered about this year. He looked well dodgy against Blackpool though I’d agree.

But I don’t think Gauci is as good as everyone else thinks. He has his good points as I mentioned above, but his shot stopping has not been good, and he may have the worst kicking from a keeper I’ve ever seen. Just don’t think it’s enough of a step up to justify the wage when we could put that into a first team winger.

I can't see Brady sending back Gauci either and as he nearly signed Mo at Northampton before Wrexham splashed the cash I can see him staying with us for the rest of the season as well.

It ll come down to economics I guess.. savings made on Gaucci s wage could go towards strengthening elsewhere…. One of 100 s of decisions the new management team needs to get right if we are to succeed even as a league 2 team next year..

Fair points (even though I prefer Gauci).

A massive decision given survival may depend on a penalty save to gain us a point or influence GD!

I like your optimism… would be great if we could get that close to staying up!

With goalkeepers I think they are all capable of making brilliant saves it comes down to who will make the least mistakes and, with the boring way the modern game is played, who is better with the ball at their feet.

I d say Amos is better with the ball at his feet and it’s a close call between them as to who will make the least mistakes… not sure if there’s a difference in wages between the two but I guess that will be another consideration for the new management team…. There’s a lot of decisions like this which we hope they get right.

I agree with the ale and vale podcast re Gauci. The difference between him and Amos is imo not big enough to justify the wage, so I’d rather us send him back and use that money on a first team centre half or winger.

Gauci’s starting position, command of his area, and starting position to sweep up are all better than Amos. But he’s been guilty of letting in a few soft goals that he should’ve saved such as Plymouth at home and Lincoln away.
His kicking is also atrocious and was putting us under severe pressure against Fleetwood, so Amos has him beat in that department.

I’d disagree. Amos has been shocking when selected. Gauci made some errors yes but he’s far ahead of Amos in every category. I’d argue a lot of the points we actually won in the early season were down to some excellent saves. He’s fallen off, but he’s miles ahead of Amos.
Gauci number 1, Amos 2 and get rid of Marosi

Understand the wage argument but the alternative is keeping Amos as number 1 when he was originally signed to be a back up in league 2 which is more his level. Unless we had another keeper lined up, I think this would seal relegation

... which neither you nor the Ale and Vale lads know, in either case.

Unless you are telling us that you actually do know their wages?

And whether or not Villa are continuing to pay a proportion of Joe Gauci's wages?

My own view (with no knowledge of the wages involved) is that Australia have no more published fixtures, so Joe Gauci and Ben Amos competing for the No. 1 spot is entirely adequate for the rest of this EFL1 season.

But Marko Maroši is contracted for this season and next, so imho the only realistic way to move him on is on loan, with the other club paying only a proportion of his wages.

Your condescending messages are disgraceful.

First off, the Ale & Vale boys do get nuggets of information from inside the club that you are not privy too.

Secondly, their is an international break in the last week of March where Australia amongst all the other teams across the world, will be participating in games

God help us…. Brady wanted both  Waine and Mo at Northampton.

I’m just waiting for him to say he tried to sign Debrah😂

If he can get the best out of Waine and Faal then that can only be good for us cant it and i actually thought both played well Friday night

They did mate against L2.

Looking at the squads for Friday and tonight then despite Brady saying Debrah was injured I wouldn't be shocked at all if he leaves this window, which would mean 2 new CB's coming in imo

We are bottom of the league MBE so virtually league 2 anyway,so they played well

Lets see how they do in league action though under Brady before i will get to carried away

Perhaps that was more to do with budget than anything else. we signed loft when we had a manager and a director of football so I hardly think we can throw stones. waine and faal are both better than loft, a one legged ostrich with heart problems would be better than loft.
