Match Thread: Reading v Port Vale

Fwiw I'd stick with largely the team from Tuesday, including the 343 system:

Gauci

Hump Heneghan Hall

Gabriel Walters Croasdale Gordon

Curtis Faal Headley

Brown introduced from the bench in one of the wide roles. Continue to ease Garrity back in. Byers brought on to control the midfield if it gets a bit chaotic. Clark to run at them with tired legs.

The wins will come. Absolutely inevitable with the way we're playing.

If we don't win this, keep your heads. Northampton, Exeter, Wimbledon, and Mansfield all within the next month. Faal will go from missing two sitters a game to scoring every other week.

If performances were poor I'd be fuming too, but they're as good as they've been in ages. Let's be one of those fanbases commended for their patience when results are poor but performances good. Doncaster did it with McCann and look at them now. Caldwell had a dodgy start at Exeter and has since posted three decent mid-table finishes.

Let people have their jokes and let's see where we are in May.

Indeed, lets not be like the lardies and call for changes... Look at it through the long lens.

Top post, the like emoji doesn't cover it. I need a special emoji but there is none so I'll write an appreciative message instead.

Once again spot on 75 goal attempts in 5 league games

Confidence should be through the roof for saturdays game

Strange aint it , leave Curtis on all game and we win, the only times we lost is when he as gone off..

Never ever Vale fans ,recognise to win any game you need to put the defensive structure in at the front, as well as the back  to let good players stroll forwards from the back to play thst initial pass  is asking for trouble ..

Curtis does his job so so well, if only is daisy cutter second half nestled other side of post he be getting his shoot at goal confidence back ..

Debrah has had 5 goal attempts this season

I predict a  Curtis corner headed home by Debs soon

Vale deserve good results

Away we are a superb side

I was going to mention about this on another thread - Debs has had a few chances already so far this season, I'm hopeful those chances will start to convert to goals very soon

The goals will come, I'm convinced of it. We're playing well but have had some pretty rotten things go against us. I know that not everyone buys into Xg but it's a pretty good indicator. We're near the top based on it and eventually our actual results will reflect this. Teams are struggling with our physicality and I'm hoping that Reading are one of those who knock it from side to side but struggle when teams rough them about a bit.

Not good.

Tbf he will be short of match fitness given how he didn't play in a single pre-season game for Portsmouth nor has he made any matchday squads in the league for them.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere to park at the ground?

The ground is surrounded by car park and some by the main road by the shopping area as used to go regularly to watch London Irish rugby.

Yeah and to be honest if there is an area of the pitch I am not in the least worried with our ability to compete it’s midfield. We get Byers back as well.

Regardless of these two signings Reading made Lewis Wing is the one we need to stop. Under no circumstances do we let him get a shot off anywhere within 30 yards of our goal as he is deadly.

Yeah, he scored from outside the box when we played Wycombe 3 years ago in the game that finished 2-2 at Adams Park.

Got about as much relevance as quoting possession stats.

The only stat that counts ...

You should take a read of this. Ignore the bit at the end about coding

Reading another big test for us .

We have conceded 2 goals in 5 away(Rotherham)in away  games and they were first game, where first half nerves were evident and we messed up

Have we since

No in a word we havent

Bring it on hope the Vale away following which probably be 700 odd have a great day ,weekend in work ,or id probably go .

If we play as we have being doing away ,and keep 11 on a positive result is coming back too staffordshire .

Just need too finish .

Players should be feeling 10 foot tall after tues .
