Match Thread: Reading v Port Vale

No goals  again

Looked like we played well after the changes .

Thats a very poor result

No sugar coating it

Think Faal needs be sent back ,big step up for him he is struggling

Who missed Vales clear cut chance

Havent seen the game so have no idea whats gone on with there goal

More goal attempts than them.and they have the cheek win the game

Thst Brown had a fair few goal attempts coming on as sub

Thats 3 defeats in a row in league though which is very poor

I suggest we play Garrity and Brown up front .

Going be a long season if cannot score thsts 89 goal attempts in 6 games 4 defeats 2 draws .

But we have just had a 1 million pound boost to the budget which we have been told will all be put back into the playing squad. When are we going to do that? In January when we will be deep in relegation trouble at this rate, or on the summer when we're already relegated?

Knowing the vale that's exactly what's gonna happen

Season over 2 months before we won promotion was my favourite.

Ok then. ALL my posts are that. How did you giving me <ovf censored> about Marosi turn out? Wasn’t wrong there was I?

Just FYI you’re the guy who calls out people because they’re from Stoke and think you’re better than them. I’ll gladly take anything you think of me with a pinch of salt

Oh dear! I honestly thought we'd win today, after the momentum of the midweek cup win and fantastic cup draw.

I appreciate its difficult to sign strikers at this stage of the window but see Reading have signed Marriot.

18 possible points- 2 achieved! This is a very bad start, whichever way it's dressed up.

The only positive from today is it may just put enough pressure on to prompt a signing on Monday! The quality of any signing remains to be seen, though.

Faal and Waine look very poor so far.

Familiar Saturday night feeling.

Extremely concerning performance. 2 goals in 6 is atrocious.

Created so little at 0-0 it was painful. Faal had a disaster and, bar pressing, I'm not sure what the point of Curtis is up front. Brown achieved more in his 30 minutes than every other forward combined and should have scored. It is increasingly looking like Waine isn't at the level.

The defending for their goal, especially from Byers, was criminal. It's a very good finish but when you're playing a game of slim margins, this can happen. Gauci had to make 2-3 decent saves today and Reading's win was probably just about deserved.

We created nothing bar some huff and puff at the end. We keep switching off defensively and making really fundamental errors in the box. There's some nice passes and moves but it rarely ends in a good final ball. Clark can't cross and needs to be replaced by Humphries soon. Headley is not as good at wing-back as Gordon.

As many have said, the difference in this level and the level below is the ruthlessness in each box. Lane scores a goal that would have flown over from a Morecambe player last season. Curtis' effort goes in against Tranmere's keeper.

I've been trying to talk myself into the possibility that we don't sign a striker, but the bare minimum is one, and we possibly need two. Stockley, a new striker, and Brown should be the forward options. Faal late on. No one else at the club should be considered.

The signing has to come. We look so impotent it's genuinely painful. A really tough game that's knocked the positivity out of a good few days.

Instead of falling out with fellow fans let's try to be a bit balanced.

There are grave concerns. Not reactionary,  a fact.

We've played three poor sides away, scored once and gained a solitary point.

We keep missing sitters.

6 games, 2 points, next to bottom .

Anticipated strugglers, Northampton, Doncaster, Wimbledon, Mansfield all with decent points on the board.

Yes it's early. Yes we are way better than 2 seasons ago.

But I am very very concerned about the current Port Vale nil expectation.

We look better but have less points after the first 6 games than in that season.

Darren.

Couldnt give a toss about 2 seasons ago, or even last season.

Couldnt care less how good our squad is supposed to be this season

I watch what we have and what we are doing NOW. Thats all that matters. Its not good and the results are shocking. No balance to the squad at all

We have a major problem this season

Many of them don't go to games but love to slag off the opinions of those that do actually attend.

The people slagging off players on here are the ones that are not going to games.

Shall I tell you I know? Because they are on here all throughout the game doing the slagging

The only positive here is Brown looks relatively competent.

Not 'main man' type but can definitely contribute.

But we needed a main man. Not another squad player. I know we get told off for being anything but positive, but it’s been an atrocious transfer window.
2 wins in 23 games now in league 1. Moore ball is not working.

We mostly played well but we just can't score. Clearly losing Tolaj is now a crisis and until we find someone else to replace him today's result will be repeated every week against any half decent side.

We'd be better off with Bruce Waine free header and it was nearer the corner flag. Getting worse week by the week. One day to bring in a striker. Wanted one last year and we got lucky with tolaj so to make sure we sold him within 10 days of the widow closing. #typical Vale

I don’t think Moore or the players will be panicking. We will continue to work hard and hopefully this is a poor run of form this season and things will improve. All teams have a run of games where things don’t happen. Hopefully ours has just come early this year.

You full of crap mate.

😂😂😂😂

Says you. All you ever do is attack posters on here. You were the same back in the Smurf days.

If you can’t be bothered to look it up and see when it was said I can’t be bothered to engage with you.

It was from 16 yards out to be fair.
