He still gets a fair bit wrong does Alan.

His general success rate is better than most though granted there are some you can always cite that don’t transpire. He was the first to lead with us going after DM from memory when it happened.

Who says it’s an in? It could be another bit of business out…..

Ive got a nasty feeling about this. Championship club comes for Walters, John or Shorrock?

Of which none of the 3 you named are regular starters for us.

We'd be mad not to take acceptable offers on any of the 3.

I watched a bit of their game against Bromley last night, and whilst he's possibly not quite as good, he's a similar striker to Tolaj in that he's fairly tall, rapid, high energy and aggression, relentlessly runs channels but can also win flick ons.

He's obsessed with getting it on his right foot which ruins chances for him sometimes, but he looks an absolute pest to defend against.

Ask any Vale fan to name 3 players you think will make it to play at a higher level and most would give you those three names. Acceptable offers would need to be Tolaj-esque to get us to part ways I feel.

I was talking about this season I didnt expect him to leave this season I think if he did well with us this season the championship would come calling but instead first offer he got he was off.

That's one in six League 1 games for Tolaj now, and 1 in 7 in all competitions.

The atmosphere at Plymouth is completely toxic - high expectations combined with a significant financial outlay after a very poor time of it last season. They look absolutely garbage and the fans have already turned on the ownership, and some on the manager. It's not impossible that Cleverly doesn't last and a new manager comes in.

He finished today playing on the right wing to accommodate Pepple, and prior to that barely touched the ball in a lone striker role. He looked extremely isolated. All of his best football has come in a pairing (Stockley with us, Stokes at Aldershot), and he's not yet shown he can function as a lone striker. All the players behind him wanted to be on the ball so he was the only one making runs in behind, on the odd occasion they had possession.

He's a good enough striker to come good but they're really not helping him at present.

I think there is a bit of overstating the importance of Tolaj. Firstly I 100% agree he was our best striker. Last season promotion was very much a team effort. I think he scored 14 league goals 12 from open play. That's the second lowest goals and lowest goals from open play of any promotion since I started attending. He wouldn't get into my top 10 strikers post 1972. I'd be a little surprised if he exceeds 15 goals, particularly if he doesn't take penalties. Robbie Earle was a better midfielder than striker but was a better striker than Tolaj. I wouldn't know where to find the data (someone will) but I wouldn't expect his expected goals to be particularly high. I'd imagine he had a reasonable number of assists. At the moment I don't think he's a Championship player. Potentially he could be in 12 months. If the 1.2 million is true, I think its a good fee for effectively a decent not outstanding league 1 player who is 24 in a couple of months, so fast approaching his peak. If he was 20 or 21 in October he'd be worth a lot more as he would have more time to develop and Premiership or Championship teams would be in for him. That's not to downplay the difficulty in replacing him. Last season our midfield and wingback players didn't really score an awful lot and I'm sure is something Moore will want to improve. Garrity only scored 5 and only Headley or Shorrock (when he played) looked capable of getting a shot on target from the fullbacks. Mitch Clark is a wonderful player until he gets into a goal scoring position, when he turns into Johny Wilkinson. So far this season our centrehalves have got clean headers on a lot of corners and freekicks, they've been quite wasteful at getting those headers between the posts and under the bar.

I'm not sure that's what people are saying. The thing with tolaj was that we had two recognised strikers stockley who has a good pedigree and decent scoring record but struggles to stay fit and tolaj who was our top scorer last season but virtually every fan on here expected us to compliment that with another recognised striker with a pedigree which would have given us a decent chance with three recognised strikers on the books.

Now tolaj has left and not only did we not bring another recognised striker in to add to our threat we haven't even brought a striker with any kind of scoring record in to replace him so we have gone from potentially having 3 recognised strikers to having only one and the one we have is the one who is always injured.

Depends what you'd call acceptable, I guess.

Like I said when we sold him and people were kicking off, it’s a very limited striker  if he can not play being a lone striker and needs to play with someone up top.

I would lay a bet that he never plays in the Premier League

Stockley plays 37 to 38 games most seasons. Very few players get through a whole season. This year he happens to have got his injury early doors. Brown broadly has a similar amount of experience in the EFL to Tolaj at the start of last season.

Fans on the Plymouth forum seem pleased with Tolaj's hard work, have said he had no service and one said I bet he is wondering what he has walked into.

He shouldn't be wondering that. It was an easy decision after all.
