Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Pete O'Rourke (reliable) says we're interested in Ryan Graydon, a striker at Fleetwood. Lincoln and Motherwell interested, Hibs and Salford have put bids in.

Tbh I can't see where Graydon would fit into our squad and I'm happy with the strikers that we have got currently. It's a no from me.

I know Pete has said we're interested but I can't see it personally as I don't know where he would fit into our squad.

For the Wiki scouts - Graydon scored 9 and created 7 in 31 '90s' last season. 13 in 39 in all comps.

He's been playing as a centre-forward last season. He would be the Tolaj replacement, I imagine. Know nothing about him at all but would fit the developmental model we're pushing with forwards.

Graydon scored against us in the away game last season.

If there is any truth in the Scarr rumour then that would cheer up those wanting an experienced CB

The lad is from Bromsgrove and the other 2 teams interested Plymouth(manager has denied there is anything in it) and Rotherham(they have just signed a CB) so it might have something in it

I’ve not seen or heard that one.

Is the rumour loan or permanent?

Tbh I think he'll end up at Salford or Hibs.

Quite a random mix of clubs there rumoured. One thing I've found with Pete O'Rourke is a considerable amount of the time he is repeating lines from the players agent and with other clubs knowing we have some money now may as well get used to them using our name.

Kofi Balmer called up to the NI Squad and Thierry Small called up to the England under 21 squad

And Dennis politic will be playing europa league football this season.

What a weird week for ex loan players

If you listen to professionals talking most clubs insert a recall clause. They insert it, it's not fixed. Nothing in a loan contract between 2 clubs is fixed, its as flexible or fixed as the 2 clubs agree. I have no idea if Stoke always or sometimes pay a loan fee. My guess is they do sometimes,  not always. Its not compulsory to have a release clause in a player's contract but increasingly players do. There isn't a fixed agreement between clubs, it's the registration document that is the standard document. There's no FIFA or EFL law that says all medical treatment HAS to be at the parent club. Bigger clubs always insist it is as part of the contract/loan agreement between them; as they don't trust the treatment at smaller clubs. The lad we had on loan from Swansea (Thomas) spent more time in Swansea than Burslem getting treatment. The bottom line if you are the club loaning the player you are going to insert a clause, unless the other club offers a lot of money not to have one. In theory a loan agreement between 2 clubs could include buying a bag of Malteesers for the chairman's grandson every day, if that's the terms agreed. There's also no rules on the percentage of wages each club must pay. Arblaster was allegedly the best paid player at the club, a fair chunk of that was being paid by United. Similarly there are no EFL rules on loan fees. Historically we haven't paid them. I suspect we did for Faal but that is only a guess. The EFL registration document isn't the contract between the clubs over the terms of the loan deal. It's the registration rules that determine when and which teams a player can play for, not be employed by. There is nothing in the EFL laws to say a player can't return to his parent club on 1 December, however the EFL rules would prevent him playing for the parent club until the January window opens and that he would remain a registered player of the loan club until that point.

How do you know what an EFL contract looks like? You must have been some sort of administrator /CEO of a club?

Clubs are certainly after him, wont get in their team now so they probably want him off their books

We allegedly scouted Scarr before he went to Birmingham when he was playing non-league for someone like Stourbridge or maybe Bromsgrove.  He is a Blues supporter,  so once they came in for him it was all over. It wouldn't be massive shock if we were interested.  It would probably require either a severance package or a loan where Wrexham still paid a fair percentage of his wage. My query would be is he any better than what we have? I know he played against us for Plymouth but I can only remember him at Walsall.  He was ok but wasn't outstanding. He must be pushing 30, if not slightly over. The game I have a vague memory of we lost by an one goal away but it was quite high scoring. He didn't look that good defensively but I'm pretty sure he scored from a corner.

There isn't an EFL contract as such they are just the same as any commercial contract/agreements either between two clubs or the club and the player. The player registration forms are available online. The registration forms are basically the same as for a player moving from Congleton to Kidsgrove. I have done a little work with a couple of football agencies linked to moving players (emphasis very much on moving), not anything particularly interesting like negotiating transfers. There's nothing special about football contracts, a players contract looks pretty much the same as anyone else's employment contract. They just have more clauses in them. The contracts I have seen have been linked to a specific player, whose mum asked me to look at them when he was still very young and didn't have an agent. When he started playing first team football regularly and earning reasonable money he needed a proper agent and a specialist lawyer. Because agents negotiate the contract they become more complicated, so less and less like a normal employment contract.  Beswicks are quite a big law firm just in terms of football and have a team of lawyers who just specialise in sports contracts. That's how they also evolved into being a sports agency. I think they've now expanded into the US market. I think Carol uses Beswicks to do Vale contracts and transfer agreements. I'm fairly certain she talked about them when she bought the club and has discussed their role in working on contracts. James Plant's contract would be recognisable to most of us (although I think I saw him in Beswicks last time I was in the UK as I needed a contract drawn up, so he may well be one of their players), Mo Salah's I guess would rival a Russian novel. Top players negotiate things like image rights, which get built into there contracts.

Proves exactly what a loan is.. an opportunity for young players to develop in a 1st team environment. It’s not game time for a player who is the finished article. Something I think fans forget when they quickly say player X or y is <ovf censored>.

He would be the best defender at the club.
