Was in town this morning making my vale shirt look sexy and got chatting to an old codger who imparted the following "for sure mate, one thing you can guarantee with us vale fans is we will have more downs than ups"

Bring in a centre back, and another attacking player who can play RW and up front. Squad will be better balanced than I think. 
 

We are still going need the 20 senior outfield players + keepers and youth backup, it’s a long season and going to have to rotate on the 2 games a week weeks. So I don’t think we get rid of anybody unless we are replacing them, or the offer is too good. 
 

At least we don’t have to worry about signing Andy Carroll to cover for Stockley because he’s just signed for Dagenham. Huge signing at that level. 

With the new Qatari investors, does the Andy Carroll signing put Dagenham on course to be the next Wrexham, or Man City?

No I'm not that confident in my ability but interesting that no League 1 Or league 2 side came in with a better offer. To answer you next question before you ask it no I don't know that no one higher didn't come in with a better offer. Logically if they had then a fair assumption he would have taken it.

That might not be the case if the new owners are coming in with massive piles of cash, and he is looking for a last big pay day.  They may be willing to pay over the odds for a player with that sort of pedigree.

In the last 4 seasons Andy Carroll has scored 29 goals, approx 7 per season. Probably on a big wage( no I don't know that as fact) but towards the end of his career with declining abilities. Yes you are right Dagenham probably have pushed the boat out to sign him, alot of other clubs have probably done the maths and have looked elsewhere for better value.

On our latest accounts that end on 30 June 2024 on gov.uk we had an average staff of 488.

The club has increased its workforce, temporary or match day or not. You don't go from nearly 250 to nearly 500 without an increase...

I just don't like a club our size overspending on staff when we are already indebt, regardless if Carol is fine with floating that debt or not. Increased costs lead to increased debt. Not sure it's fully justified having a personal staff member to pour each fan a beer when you visit vale park but hate away haters 😎

Carol is funding this from making £180m from the sale of her (and Kevin's) business. She is reportedly very happy to want to invest a LOT of money in to Vale AND into refreshing the town if Burslem. That's her choice m8 and all we can do is thank her. 

Now, if she finds us into the Championship, and brings in someone else to afford to build on from there, she might get her money back, but unlikely. 

I, for one, think what's she's doing and the spirit she's creating at the club is just breathtakingly brilliant.
