Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Hopefully we might see a little bit more movement from this coming week once they get back from Wales

I do think we will have to get rid of some before we bring anymore in. We made 10 changes on the hour, none of whom were unproven kids, today and Tolaj, Marosi, Amos, Garrity, Byers and Gabriel weren't even in the squad!

That's not forgetting Fabulous Funso who is still drawing his wage but looks like he wont be involved.

That's a massive squad, potentially bigger than last year, its surely got to be cut down before we get anyone else in.

We are already at the squad limit for 22 registered outfield players, so couldn’t really bring anybody in without basically paying somebody to not play.

Players to flog:

Ojo

Hart

Bring in a centre back, and another attacking player who can play RW and up front. Squad will be better balanced than I think.

We are still going need the 20 senior outfield players + keepers and youth backup, it’s a long season and going to have to rotate on the 2 games a week weeks. So I don’t think we get rid of anybody unless we are replacing them, or the offer is too good.

At least we don’t have to worry about signing Andy Carroll to cover for Stockley because he’s just signed for Dagenham. Huge signing at that level.

From what I saw of Andy Carroll, the last time he was at Vale park I think League 1 football is now beyond him

Have a feeling Hart will be hard to offload and may well be considered as a deputy for Hall ? His wing back chance looks zero behind Headley,Gordon and Shorrock.

Despite what DM said about Ojo being part of the group, ( he's not going to say otherwise ) it looks highly likely that's not the case. Maybe Oldham fancy him or Tranmere.

Based on 1 game, 2 years ago. Have you ever thought about scouting for a club?

Port Vale released 8 players at the end of last season and have signed 7 players.

Saw a few games at the back end of last season at Caernarfon Town..They’ve got a lad there Louis  Lloyd who would be a quality footballer at league one level.

Signings like this are always a gamble BUT i would love to see us take a punt on a player like this like Swindon have with Jake Tabor in the hope they come in and start banging in goals like Kone did at Wycombe

Totally agree with you,I do expect at least 3 or 4 to leave either permanently or on loan by the end of the window

It obviously looks like we are still in the market for a permanent keeper and i would still like to see another CB and forward come in(maybe both on loan)

One of the released players was Andrew Buah - who you would say has been replaced by Joe Williams.

Not massively relevant but I was listening to Daniel Storey’s podcast with NTT20 after Storey completed the 92 in a season.

They were discussing how football has shifted to impatience and obsession with managerial performance, and how a lot of football fans aren’t happy.

Storey mentioned three clubs where he thought the fans were relatively happy, largely due to a connection between ownership and fans; Exeter, Wimbledon, Port Vale.

If were one of the three happiest clubs in the country I honestly dread to think what the other 89 are like.

Lej.

Aggffhhhhhh this verify you are human check is driving me up the wall - refuses point blank to believe me; I'm not saying it's necessarily incorrect, but it's flipping inconvenient 😬

Personally I don’t think it’s practical this season after 2 big swings last season and Waine singing so far.

3 of our 4 strikers are completely unproven at this level.

Obviously we are all expecting Tolaj and Rico to step up, I think everyone is willing Paton to have a breakout season repaying the in investment.

I was being a bit facetious with the Carroll remark tbf 😄  He's a great signing for the Daggers though.

Yeah agree with that. I just don't see Hart as a centre back really which is why I'd look to move him on.

If you were to rank our senior defenders Hart and Heneghan are probably at or near the bottom. I doubt from a long term squad management perspective either would be here next season.

Could well be an area that Darren looks at a loan option for. But then Joe Williams might impress also (be fantastic if he does, I look forward to hopefully seeing him play in the EFL Trophy at the very least)
