Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Featured Replies

UV posts nonsense these days, a bit different than when he leaked everything left right and centre during Browns reign.
He’s as much in the know as @Oliver132000871… I hope we manage to hang on to Gabriel.

There may be legs in the Gabriel rumour, as I heard that he got stuck at temporary lights last Tuesday at 11.15pm just as Burslems finest were piling out of the Clayhanger. He's not been seen since apparently

Anyone any knowledge of what data analysis of goalkeeper play covers?

Google answered my question, why we employ a goalkeeping coach to keep track. Footwork with the ball in tight areas and attacking options that Ray King never had to bother with.

Ben Waine scored 9 goals in the last 2 seasons, Cosgrove 7. I don't think any of us have seen much of Wain or Cosgrove. Moore has seen a bit of Wain as they started talks before the end of last season and he does go to watch players live. The only bit of Moore's interview I found illuminating was about Wain, when he said he was doing some specific work with him looking at aspects of his movement. Cosgrove seems to have odd runs of being very good, whereas for a lot of the time he's been awful. I'll see how Wain does between now and Christmas.  He's had a very similar career path to Ben Garrity. Blackpool are similar in size to Plymouth.  Both dropped down a league for inconclusive loans prior to signing. Both got praise from previous managers for their attitude. Both 24 when signed. Both started out playing at a lower level. It will be interesting to see how Moore intends to use Wain. He seem a little faster than our other forward options,  the biggest criticism of our options last year was they were all a bit one paced; except for Hackford.

Last season Byers pinged a few balls over the top but we didn't really have anyone getting on the end of them apparently waine has a bit of pace so that could be a route to goal especially later on in tight games.

Just looked up the PFA team group of players and couple of more notable players.

Dom Bernard. Remember him having a nightmare against us 1 game.

Kane Hemmings and the lovely Ash Hunter. 2 grade A tossers. Must be struggling to pass the d1kchead test.

He was happily on the bench most/much of the last season anyway until Ripley went.

And he's injured anyway.

He'll be going nowhere, doubt he will want to either.

Happily?  Thought he was just being a good pro, biding his time for his opportunity which he grasped, leading  to the Ego leaving the building

The Port Vale Foundation just carries the club’s name. It's really the Shanahan Charity where they put money and events into the local community. My understanding is none of that comes from the football club income.

A large part of The Academy money comes from the EFL. For the rest you either commit to an Academy; or scrap it.

We are one of the few clubs to do catering in house. A lot of those down as employees are matchday staff who are subcontracted workers at most other clubs. The cost would still be there.

I think there was a restructuring and some redundancies 18 months ago.

I read an article on the huge influx of staff and the concerns are valid, I believe it was a blog linked to the debt owed on the club id mention where it was if I could find it but I'll repeat similar points.

On onevalefan's own site we have an article saying we lost 3.4 million and increases our staff from 246 to 319 from the company accounts in 2023. Another site says we grew our employee account by 29%.

On our latest accounts that end on 30 June 2024 on gov.uk we had an average staff of 488.

The club has increased its workforce, temporary or match day or not. You don't go from nearly 250 to nearly 500 without an increase...

I just don't like a club our size overspending on staff when we are already indebt, regardless if Carol is fine with floating that debt or not. Increased costs lead to increased debt. Not sure it's fully justified having a personal staff member to pour each fan a beer when you visit vale park but hate away haters 😎

If a Premiership club is after signing Aaron Davies then surely some of that chunk of change can go on  signing Filip Marschall......however as for signing outfield players it would mean moving players on as the squad of 22 senior outfield players is full....could still be a couple of U21 loan players though.

I don't think goalkeepers count as part of the 22 player squad limit

Hopefully we might see a little bit more movement from this coming week once they get back from Wales

Pretty pleased with the summer business so far. Humphreys and Gabriel being the pick of the bunch, at least on paper. I have a feeling that Waine will surprise some people, he should compliment Tolaj and Stockley well with his pace and movement.

Another couple of signings and I think we'll look good to go. Not forgetting hopefully some shrewd business in the loan market too. Being in League One should mean we can find another Arblaster or Devine with a bit of luck.

I agree, I think Waine may surprise a few - I think he just hasn't had good opportunities so far. His movement for goals in NZ looked great, admittedly at a lower standard league. It also looks like he can shoot with both feet.

I also think Shipley will surprise a few and might be a key player for us.

And.... yet the debt and staff has increased.

REGISTER-OF-CHARITIES.CHARITYCOMMISSION.GOV.UK

The foundation is a registered charity and is not linked to the company the club is under, so no, thats not correct, you can look for yourself.

Cant you do all this on another thread or at least start a thread off

MOVED TO NEW THEAD PV ECONOMICS

Saw a few games at the back end of last season at Caernarfon Town..They’ve got a lad there Louis  Lloyd who would be a quality footballer at league one level.

Not vale related but that's some signing for Dagenham.

I remember when they were in our league back in the day.
