Agreed.

And I'm not sure the football was dire under Adams.

5-2 Fleetwood, 7-1 Burton, 6-2 Rotherham.

Without looking I think we also had a few comprehensive 3-0 wins and maybe stuffed Bristol Rovers 4 as well.

Far from dire.

We hammered a lot of teams.

Barnet, Accrington, AFC Wimbledon and Oxford 3-0

Fleetwood 5-2

Rotherham 6-2

Burton 7-1

Wycombe 4-1

Bristol Rovers, Plymouth 4-0

Morecambe, Plymouth and Aldershot 3-1

Couple of 3-2's in there and 2-2's so loads of goals!

We even scored 14 goals in 3 games at one point! (19 goals in those 3 games overall).

Just for comparison we scored 87 goals in Adams's promotion season. We'll be lucky to score 60 this.

I think we get beat on Saturday. I think that Barrow defeat was huge & will really dent confidence. Would love to be proved wrong.

We just don't score enough goals.

THAT'S the spirit!!👍🤣🤣🤣

We played some of the best football I've ever Seen at the Vale under Micky I remember me and several others  sitting on the steps in the railway stand for the Burton game cos there were no seats available and the atmosphere was bloody brilliant as was the game we drew 2-2 to gain promotion I'm sure there was near on 18-19,000 there that day that's when it was exciting watching the mighty Vale same as when Rudgey was manager   UTV

I find personally some or the comments on this forum baffling about the style of play that Moore is turning out. It is almost as as if we have been treated to 20 years of Dutch total football with a hint of Brazilian flair thrown in. We have played some awful games certainly over the last decade resulting in us nearly dropping out of the league. Under which manager was the football any better? And which season? There can’t be many? The football was pretty dire under Clarke and Adams as well.

I have been disappointed with some of the displays this season. My biggest gripe this season has been that George Byers doesn’t seem to be the player we all hoped he would be. I must be watching a different game to a lot of posters as I have really enjoyed a lot of the games this season. The game against Wimbledon was a cracking match for starters. I think Morre does deserve a lot of criticism. The formation is wrong a lot of the games and he needs to be playing 2 up top. But to say that the football is boring………I’m lost. Maybe it’s just me thinking this, but this season has been a lot better than previous years gone by.

How can you possibly say the football under Clarke and Adams was dire in league 2.

We pumped several teams under Adams by multiple goals with pure attacking football. As we did under Clarke with his high pressing, putting 5 past Accrington, 4 past Crawley etc. Moore in comparison is an absolute bore fest.

Both those Adams and DC Sides you felt a connection to, high energy sides, the Adams one it felt like we came together following administration and the DC one obviously saw the club, players and fan base all unite behind the tragedy DC had which we all felt like a big family connected, hence the scenes in the final and at Hartlepool for example.

When you consider those two seasons are the only success we've had in 25 years or so you'd think we'd all be buzzing and full of excitement to be 4th, cemented in the top 7 since early October etc. but it does feel completely flat and it doesn't make sense why but is it the style or brand of football? the fact we expect promotion with the money we now have been spending? hangover from last season and the half of the season before?

Largely under DC despite the late blip costing us automatic the play offs felt an achievement but making them this year does feel like a let down.

Just to clear it up Alan, it wasn’t me that threw it. I do remember they would not sell beer in glasses, so bottles was a better idea?

I  think there are quite a few of us that are proper fed up with the brand of football on offer at the moment and I think that kinda leads to apathy in other words I just dunner enjoy attending anymore and  I haven't for a while now to be honest  since Darrel and Micky left but I still love The Vale

Have to disagree with you on this one. Started at the Vale in the mid 60,s and after the Cheltenham match on the1st. Jan. I have stopped. Just not entertained whatsoever.

Enjoyed the Bruno R. Matches more than now. Could be losing 2-0 at half time but had the hope/chance we would win 3-2. Even if we didn’t we always Big Reg to amuse us in the second half.Maybe other clubs supporters feel the same, but one attempt on goal in Ninty minutes is not for me.

Have no connection to these players, just football journeymen doing a job and moving on for first better offer.Ellis Harrison is a prime example. Most recent player to get me out of my seat regularly was David Worrall and we dumped on him.

Will watch the match tomorrow, not with any hope of entertainment, but because it is what we do.

Ps. I get paid to attend, but now leave as soon as I can and watch Soccer Saturday on the TV. I at least get to laugh/ smile a few times.

I think you are spot on. With the team assembled I get the disappointment that we are not top of the league and flying. I wouldn’t say that the football is boring.

We have had our fair share of bad luck this season with clear penalties not being given, players receiving straight reds when it could be argued a yellow would have been more proportionate and how many times times have we hit the post or at least shaved it by a whisker. My point is that we have a decent enough team (compared to previous seasons and our opposition) and we are competing. I get the frustration that Moore isn’t getting the best out of the team, but it isn’t boring.

And again, well said.

The football was dire under Adams? Was it <ovf censored>. We scored for fun. Had brilliant wingers who were great to watch and a striker bang in 30 goals. We hammered numerous sides scoring 5 or me 3 times and a load of 3/4s. Completely different from this turgid rubbish. Failed to score at home what 6/7 times now?

Football much better under DC as well. Not like Adams but certainly better.

Unbelievable really that some think that was dire but promote the football we’ve seen under Moore.
