I imagine if we'd have won 2 out of Carlisle, the 2 away games and Cheltenham, we'd have been comfortable in 2nd and taking at least the 1,500 initial allocation. Form plays a massive part for Vale fans. I've no idea how many we're taking, when I got my tickets the lady in the shop said they're selling well, that was Saturday. My tickets are in the block where they're still selling. Think it's 41. The club aren't replying to questions about how many are going on twitter. If I was to guess, I think somewhere between 800 and 1,000.

900 sold apparently..Not great however certainly not terrible given our dreadful form.

Just seen that Daz 🤣. As soon as I say on here they're not replying, they reply and say 900. Like you say, not great, bit close to 1,000 given our form is good going.

I think just into New year following of 1300 Boxing day Bradford ,that  wasn't a terrible performance  in fact if stockleys header goes deservedly in ,we get a deserved point in my opinion the fact there goal was offside seems to have given fans a bad opinion of game especially second half where id say we were the better team ,,710 Grimsby Xmas  Sundaythe Ripley show (not a good one )  and 900 odd Doncaster is tremendous support as the fans have only seen 1 goal in about 3 away games including Bromley (the Ripley show tremendous that day and ghost goal day )not including the hardy 100 who did see 1 at funny enough Doncaster in pizza extravaganza .

I hope they see a new Vale tomorrow they deserve see some goals for the Vale whether they will over to the players because surely they can ignore the manager and play to go forwards and win .

Just seen Cheltenham have called off their game with Walsall tomorrow because of a frozen pitch - do Doncaster have under soil heating?

No they don't.

All to play for with 22 games left here are my ratings of the best sides we have played out of those we have played .

1 Bromley absolutely superb I cannot imagine there budget been big tremendous side who have pace where needed .

2 Crewe moved the ball so well another side who have little to no money spent on them but continue to flourish

3 Barrow a club full of desire gave us a lesson in league and cup ,it's no good having good players at a football club (individuals )all about the the  team  and Bromley like Barrow had a  team of hungry players wanting win .

4 Doncaster they have good professionals throughout there side Sharps a known winner and Molyneux has that habit of producing ok it was early in season when played them but they impressed me greatly.

5 Carlisle don't understand there lowly position on what I saw the other week think they will fly up the league personally

According to wiki, 8 goals in a career of 51 games, hardly prolific. He’ll probably get a brace tomorrow

Strange though. Do they have injury to one of their forwards? They've already got a few options.

It should be ok. Staying above freezing for the game , with snow and ice expected on Saturday night.  A cold day though.

Molyneux and Sharp have both scored 7. Perhaps cover for injury

They have molyneux, sharp and ironside 3 very good forwards for this level, so will be very hard stop them scoring. I think Billy sharp pretty much scores past us everytime we play against him.

Match Officials | Doncaster Rovers Vs Port Vale

Fourth Officials Board

We travel to South Yorkshire for our second game of 2025 as we take on Doncaster Rovers in Sky Bet League Two Football. The match officials have been confirmed and can be found below.

Jeremy Simpson has been chosen to take charge with the support of his assistants Mark Dwyer and Richard Woodward

Alex Gray will be on hand as the game's fourth official.

Simpson has mainly refereed in the Championship since the 2016/17 season and it was in back in 2016 when he last took charge of a Vale game. It was our League One 3-1 home win against Millwall, our goals coming from Alex Jones, Martin Paterson and Remie Streete.

It’s not the line up I would particularly choose but we need some consistency and so I would start with the same team as Cheltenham.

I’d be tempted to replace Heneghan for a more ball playing defender but as Sang is still out there probably isn’t an alternative.

There’s an argument to start the new lad Headley on the left so we have more balance and pace maybe, Mitch on the right.

I’d also start Chislett over Richards as him with Tolaj and Curtis do link up well and how many times have they all been on the pitch at the same time?

Whatever we do, can we give it a chance over the next month to gel?

To be honest if you did that with the wingbacks you could use Kyle John as one of the wide centrebacks then. Basically do what we stumbled on with Gibbo right at the end of his time at Vale.

I can see the new lad coming straight in on the left to give us balance on that side. Guessing he’s fit…although with vale that’s not a given probably signed with a hamstring injury so won’t see him till next season. Joking aside though that would be the only change. Let’s settle down a bit and get away from all the chopping and changing. Let the players build some rapport with each other.
