Grimsby v Port Vale match thread - 29th Dec

No midfielders tomorrow but that may force our hand in terms of needing to get the ball forward faster. If we are going to continue with 2 defensive midfielders I wouldn’t be surprised to see cover slot in there. That’s his actual position.

Sometimes faces don't fit. It's football.

Whatever his limitations Nathan Smith is a decent League 2 defender.

League 1 he's been exposed and particularly when we've asked him to pass out of defence. Looked a step too far.

As a stopper and stalwart he's a good League 2 defender.

Spot on,but faces not fitting? He's perfect for a remake of Steptoe and Son...'Arold..?..

Matchday! ️ In whatever ways or means possible grind out a result 💪🏻 Let’s roll up them sleeves & stink the place out! Come on Vale 💙

Good Norning Vale Fans

Safe Journey over to Blundell park today. We are currently awful at home, however we will be up for this one after boxing days home win.

please don’t play Smith as he is really slow and is only good against a bullying centre forward

Smith is a proper defender who would put his head where others wouldn't put their boot.

Correct, he would be up for the fight, which is what we are in currently!

Mad to see Grimsby have played 22 games with only 1 draw. Also only Newport, Swindon, Accrington & Morecambe have conceded more goals. Always take a point on the road but we are desperate for a win! 2-1 Vale

I agree. In fact if we gave him a run of games I am certain he is still a starter in this squad.

Wonder how strong the protest was. Can’t imagine a PL player getting a 3 game ban for that

Clubs can challenge the decision. That is all. It's not a personal hearing where you have a one to one meeting. To me it's incredible that the decision was given in the 1st place. Even more incredible that it was not overturned.

How's about a team selection for tomorrow, then? To pass the time! Where do you start?

Injuries, illnesses and suspension.

God only knows what Moore'll pick!

Well he won't be picking John or Garrity as they're still injured

It's not about justice, unfortunately. It's about them showing loyalty to their own. A 'Boy's Club'.

Didn't realise John was injured. Was hoping Garrity might sneak in like a ninja!

They do like to push men forward when attacking but it obviously leaves them a bit vulnerable at the back. Crewe's goals against them were on the counter attack.

We’ll win today, play no better than we have done for weeks, but get the luck we didn’t get against Bradford and Bromley.
