I think Rico Richards is genuinely quality. His decision making and weight of pass is really good.

Totally agree and as I had commented.

i have no agenda againest Bowers or anyone else on RS. He just needs to reflect and review his commentary.

he was very negative yesterday and I thought I was watching.  Different match.

his commentary was very poor.  You only have to look at the BBC stats to see the evidence.

Tbh , I would prefer Bowers to some wet wipe commentating in his place who's got no allegiance to the Vale ,thats just my opinion though 😁

I agree. Love to keep him. And Cover. Also BBB. Oh and Hackford obvs. You can’t say we haven’t used the loan market to go effect. That’s why I’m slightly worried for what January brings. I hope to God we’ve already started planning for it.

I agree, but I also think clubs will actually want to send their better youngsters on loan here.

I think our recruitment of loan players has actually been quite good this year. I know Arblaster and Devine were gold standard but they were the exception rather than the rule.

This year the loan players all look like they have a really important part to play (even if it looks like BBB has dropped off the face of the earth). As @JoeB2 says Richards looks a great find, but I've been most impressed by Cover, who has played RB and RWB superbly. First someone with limited first tram experience he hasn't seemed phased by League Two and seems to be getting better with each game.

I'm hoping that their parent clubs may look at how well we're doing around Christmas time and think it'd be good for their young players to have a promotion on their CV so don't consider recalling them.

Still, I suppose we could always get Dan Gore back...

Absolutely this.....commentate on the game that is unfurling in front of him. He missed what happened to both their "disallowed" goals. Don't go into the "Trough of Despond" when the opposition have had the ball for a while...."it's only a matter of time now, they're applying the pressure, they've turned it up a notch" and thats in the first five minutes!

I like that he is so invested in Vale but he needs to watch the game and commentate. If I'd been listening to RS instead of watching it would have been a different game.

What do the real masters of their craft say...."Paint pictures with your words and imagine you're talking to someone who can't see the game". At times the old "less is more" would be a good adage for him.

Unless you are in line it's incredibly hard to call an offside. Similarly with the handball I would imagine at best he was calling it from the halfway line. I don't believe local radio provides replays. I (like you) had the benefit of watching it a couple of times, so had a good idea why it was ruled out. Even with the replays some of us missed Ripley's decent save from a corner towards the end 😉

Who's complaining to his employers?????? I've said what I think about his style! I've not lived in UK since 2005 so iFollow has been a God send. The first year there was no commentary and then after that it was linked to RS. I've watched every game and consequently have listened to Phil Bowers when he's been on air. My comments come after seasons of listening to him so they are pretty valid in my eyes.

Apologies if it wasn't you, but there was a post that said they were compiling a list of what he said to send to Radio Stoke. That just seems like witch hunt territory to me.

In any case, we're not going to agree. I've listened to him for many years too and I think he is very good, it just seems to me people love a pile on with him sometimes and I don't think that's right.

Thing is even if some go back I have complete faith the management team will replace them or strengthen well. They’ve proved that with the August window 👍🏻

It definitely wasn't me. Thank you.

I LOVE his enthusiasm I just think he could tinker with his technique. I think he's a genuine asset for the club. My comments were meant as my own observations and especially on yesterday's commentary.

Anyway, I'm watching this England tripe after a cracking Harlequins v Saracens game, still basking in the last few weeks results and a top of the league perch!

I can’t see the loanees being recalled in Jan. if we’re still flying and they are still getting game time the parent clubs would be mad to recall them. They’ve all really impressed, but obviously aren’t close to those two last season who realistically were too good for league 1. Out of them all BBB would be the one I could see being recalled.

Just loved our winner yesterday and have watched it over and over.

It was beautifully constructed: MK try a punt over our back three and Hall's intercepting header to Shorrock is tapped inside to Croasdale. As he advances at pace it's noticeable how he initially looks to the space on the right but then spots Richards making a diagonal run to the left. Richards duly receives the ball and places a perfect defence-splitting pass into the path of Shorrock. Before you can say MK Dons, the ball's in the back of the net after a sublime cross by Shorrock and a superbly timed cushion-volley from Hackford. (Why's he coming on I'd asked myself just a few moments before!) Terrific stuff from the Vale, real quality of vision and execution.

So, the anatomy of a goal and when we look back at it at the end of the season, I doubt we'll see many better. Brilliant build up and excellent finish. And hopefully much more of the same to come 🙂.

When watching the play develop I thought Croasdale was gonna pass it to Shorrock and set him away down the left, instead he played it to Richards who played the most gorgeous weighted ball possible to Shorrock who didn't have to change his run in any way, this set up Shorrock to play an equally lovely cross to a perfectly timed run and finish by Hackford, result was a goal of sheer beauty, I nearly had an organism.
