Personally I dont think we will make the mistake in this window of not bringing in a decent striker

I've thought that for the last 3 windows!!!    Got to be right one day, hopefully

The goalkeeping was a prime concern and almost sent us down last season. That warning caused the recruitment team to earmark and secure a first choice goalkeeping target in the summer.

We done well with that then. Oh, wait a minute...........

Watched him closely from the Railway Stand in the second half against Exeter. Time after time he was on his own against two men. People were screaming at him to get closer to the winger, but that just meant the midfielder with the ball could pick his pass at leisure. Seeing as no one ever did help couldn’t work out who was supposed to.

All season teams have doubled up on our left and right backs /wing backs  and that’s 50% of reason why we went down . Every team knew it was open season around the edges  , they addressed it and we never did . It harsh as the only person under the bus for this Is Flitcroft as everyone who plays football knows fullbacks are probably the most important position on the pitch.

The priority for the club must be to decide whether they cash in on Garrity and Chislett.  If they are going to then really they can recruit for any formation.  If they aren't then we need to play mainly with two 10s. Played consistently as a 10 Garrity would have scored 15 plus goals. He's decent playing deeper but not irreplaceable playing deeper.

On the assumption both stay we then need 2 strikers, another player as a 10, 2 midfield players, at least one left sided player and one right. Uche, Wilson, Massey and Cass will be let go. The 4 loan players to leave. Pretty much as much as they can do with the number of contracted players.

I would agree with that. I have a feeling we'll lose at least one of Garrity and Chislett myself.

Think people will be disappointed by the retained list. There just isn’t much room for manoeuvre. I can see absolute hell up on Monday morning.

I don’t think we will ‘pay off’ anyone - a potential waste of money if someone is willing to loan them/take on most of their wages later on. It’s hundreds of thousands of pounds up front, to pay off the number of players some are calling for.

I think Massey and Wilson will be released, the loanees sent back, Uche and Wynne offered terms (which Uche will reject), and maybe 3-4 put on a transfer list. I’m not for one second saying I’m happy with any of this, just a prediction.

Like it or lump it, I think 15ish of this squad will be here next season, including Sang, Loft, and the other maligned lads.

For the first time ever, I'm actually going to disagree with you.

Going on from what Darren Moore said to the sponsors on Monday and his pre-match interview yesterday. I think that their is going to be some big changes to put this avoidable mess right.

My guess is that the first thing that he will do, will be to release every single player out of contract. It's the easiest thing to sort out first to make some room. Plus, none of them have performed for us over the past 12/18 months. So, no bother at all in letting them go.

I include the reserve keeper in that too because I'm not sure if it is a good thing to have someone on the bench that know's he's not going play and also think that affects the goalkeeper that is playing because he know's  that he's got no competition.

I also think that their maybe 1 or 2 surprises when it come's player's under contract.

It's going to be a very interesting retain list next week.

What did DM say to the sponsors on Monday?

I remember it being said that our policy was to go for Quality rather than Quantity. Did I miss something ? Ok we all know strikers aren't cheap especially ones who actually do their day job and score goals. Every team wants a 15/20 goal a season striker and they attract a  wage premium. Surely the  combined wages of Uche and Loft could have being better spent on the wages of 1 quality striker whose goal return might have made the crucial difference between relegation and staying up.

I agree Well said .

Hard one to call. I'm pretty sure Dipepa will be gone, one of the big clubs will put in a crazy offer. Not really sure what the market value of either of the others. Garrity is similar to Earle and Taylor but both a little older and not quite as good. Chislett is younger and technically a better player. Not quite as dynamic. Garrity could possibly get a Championship offer, Chislett maybe one of the bigger league 1 clubs.

I think our retained list will be released quite quickly once the season is done and dusted

You would hope it is and then the rebuilding work can start.  Not last minute dot com building a team to get us back to Div 1.

Here's a question......Would you be prepared to sell Garrity and Chizzy and use the money to pay off existing contracts of some of the under contract players ?

Bearing in mind we would still have our transfer budget.
