League 2 preparation

Birmingham isn't a great comparison in my opinion. They've done a fairly decent job with the bullring but the streets around are too narrow and cramped. Outside of the very city centre, it's a real dump and in some ways worse than Stoke. It has no real culture about it, unlike a York or Oxford. I live in Endon and the surrounding countryside is fabulous, literally 6 miles from the peak district.
The clue is in the name Ham, which means a town. Whereas most of the Chesters were roman cities.

Todays playoff game game between Crawley and MK has been postponed due to a water-logged pitch. Bit embarassing for Crawley that. The second leg is scheduled for Thursday so that would likely need to be moved back too. Little bit of an advantage in prep time for the winner of Crewe and Donny at the least.

That’s going to be expensive, didn’t Leek replace their grass pitch with 3G pitch at a cost of £500k.? I understand Leek can use the pitch for all sort of events all year round so it probably pays for itself in the long run. That’s a lot of money to fork out when you’ve just been promoted into the football league. Imagine if it was spent solely on players that’s a promotion budget. I’m sure the EFL have checked that Bromley are capable financially of making this transition, before the new season starts. TBH I’d have preferred Gateshead to have been allowed to be involved in the play offs. Surely any team that doesn’t have at least a ten year agreement on their ground shouldn’t be playing in the National League.

It is but you'd assume they'd have given assurances to the EFL about it or they'd not have been allowed to participate like Gateshead. I know Macc when they re-formed replaced the grass pitch with one and for clubs at that level as you say it's somewhat of a money-spinner year round for them in hiring it out. Guess the Sky TV funding and solidarity payments etc will probably cover the cost but it'll certainly be a big expense for them.

Embarrassing? It's been throwing it down there since 5am non stop and is still belting it down. Not many clubs can control the weather....

Probably better that Doncaster or MK are promoted. If they both stay down guarantee that's two automatic promotion places taken next year.

Crewe or Crawley won't be a problem... Or am I talking crp!!

Errrm 🤔🤔

🤣🤣🤣🤣

GLP, do you have any idea, how much money clubs get from the higher echelons and TV.? Also is it a lump sum or spread out.?

I worked in the Birmingham area and Malvern hills area for well over a month and at no point did I consider that I was near the cotswolds.

Frankly after visiting some areas in Brum, I was glad to get back home!

As with any city, there are obviously good areas and others that you steer clear of. However, the centre of Birmingham is a vibrant developing area with much to commend it. Theatres, bars, restaurants, museums/art galleries, the world-renowned Symphony Hall and more canals than Venice! What more could you want?

I'm more concerned with the other end of the table at the moment 🙃

I'm only just a 'Stones throw' away from the golden beaches of Boscombe nr Bournemouth.... Only 3 hours away don't you know!!

Just down the road!

That's just plain silly as well you know.  30mins on a bad day's traffic and I'm south of Stratford and into the Cotswolds.  It's 3 hours plus to Bournemouth from here so you must have a supersonic motor to get from Stoke to there in 3 hours!

Anyway, try Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Bourton on the Water and Chipping Camden for starters, and then call in for a cuppa as you pass us on your way back and see how close we are.

You haven't got any confidence in Moore and the squad I take it!

now we are no longer in league two I sincerely worry about our current manager to revitalise the squad without getting rid of  some awful players like loft and jones and our current debt

The debt can be written off by the owner as it was owed to her!

I just hupe the acquisition of Synthetic Solutions doesn't include the ground.
