Been numerous debacles assembling this squad. Was thinking about the decision to move Conlon on. By no means suggesting he was the answer. However, if and when he played, he played with professionalism and pride.

Conlon was no way as good as Devine and Blaster. However, they both left in January and we bring in Weir, Gore (loans) and we obviously have Lowe on the books. Lowe seems likely to play in that defensive midfielder role. Have we upgraded on Conlon with these three? Not just in terms of quality but effort, resilience? May be looking at this through 'rose tinted specs' BUT I genuinely don't feel Weir and Lowe are any better than Conlon and Gore's done a disappearing act.

Just highlighting another recruitment failure IMO.

Loans only paper over the cracks regardless. Loans used to be signings with a veiw to a permanent contract. Instead Vale have become a creshe for bigger clubs

Didn't play midweek ( Conlon ) and only sub yesterday. Suggesting he's either had yet another knock or lost his place . The two you mentioned are not better than him however League one because of too many injuries was a step too far for him.

And that's my point - we've not upgraded.

Players get knocks all the time and get rested with sat / tues games as squads are rotated. Nothing wrong in any of that.

We're talking sick note Conlon here . Why would they rest him when according to some on here he's ripping up The conference.

Bennington ,Charsley , Pett,Conlon might not win us promotion out of div 1 but are better than what we have got at the moment. Hindsight is a wonderful thing 😞😞VTID

It’s a classic ex Vale player situation. They leave and their career gets exposed as a sham. See also Louis Dodds, Constantine, Sonner, Ben Williamson, every single player from the foreign experiment, Harrison, Proctor, Politic, Butterworth etc etc.

All at times seen by us as half decent but soon exposed as awful at their next clubs. Reason? Awful to begin with. Butterworth 13 appearances for Carlisle and 1 goal. Better than what we have had this season mind…

We have been sleepwalking for 15 months so not surprised its quiet.

Biggest fear is unless somebody wakes us up in the next 6 months we will be following Forest Green into oblivion.

Others have alluded to us challenging if/ when we go down. I'm with yourself  and think a massive reset needed again.

Bradford,Tranmere and Swindon are all meandering doing nothing. All bigger clubs.

Feel Chesterfield are going be another Stockport and be up at the top.

A complete overhaul is needed of the structure we need as a League 2 club should the inevitable happen. How we do that with so many poor players still contracted is another matter entirely.

I don't mind loan signings really but I think we need to be saying no if the players are simply to be recalled after 6 months. If we take on a player it should be our prerogative whether they stay or not.

If that means we miss out on certain talent, then so be it. A season is too long to risk destabilizing because a player has been recalled and we have built around that player.

The silence from the club is deafening

I still think Flitcroft and Carol are still looking at the season (and the longer term) in the abstract so are not worrying at this stage. They will worry but probably when it is too late. Same with why Crosby was given far too much time and was probably hired to begin with.

Tranmere and Swindon are certainly not bigger clubs. Tranmere have basically followed our recent history, nice spell in the Champ in the 90s and then years of decline, except we didn’t go down to non league like they did.

Swindon had a few respectable years when Glenn Hoddle was around, but that’s it.

I think too many of our fans have low expectations and Carol is being saved by her meeting them.

I would not say sleepwalking, more like sleep sprinting with recruitment and other things happening in the club.

The squad has gone transfer window to transfer window getting worse.  Fruadcroft is teflon as far as Carol is concerned for this.
