Beattie would either be a revolation like jack Lester was for chessie or a complete flop as he is perhaps past it, I think he'd be too much of a gamble, although admittedly any signing is, but he would want a good wage for league 2 level!

Dagnall would be brilliant if he could rediscover his Dale form!

I mentioned Beattie to the step father of a current Sheff U player who watched most of their games last season, his opinion is thta Beattie would do a great job for us.

What ever happened to Michael Collins, ex Huddersfield? Used to be a decent goal-scoring midfielder in League 1 but i've not seen him mentioned much recently.

Today's Daily Star reckons that Chesterfield are after Sam Togwell, who's available on a free. If he's anything like the same player from his loan spell a few years back, then he'd be a quality signing and replacement for Griffith.

 

But I suppose if Chesterfield want him they could blow us out of the water again in terms of wages, a la Richards.

togwell is a great holding midfielder cracking vision great passer, and not a bad shot on him either but like you say chesterfield would blow us over.

Not necessarily, don't forget clubs are only allowed to spend 55% of their turnover. So with similar gates, and considering they were rumoured to of offered Richards £5k a week, I doubt they will be a position to carry on like that.

That would be a very good midfield for league two, Whitaker and Togwell at Chesterfield. Both should get a few goals.

From what I believe the owner can create a sponsorship deal with the club (like sponsoring a stand...etc) then that fee becomes part of the turnover. Think Man City did something like that as a way of boosting around £400m into the club!
