I think it would have to have been done prior to transfer deadline day as the club would still hold his registration which is why I presume the <ovf censored> did that with Dwight Gayle.

Are you sure? Because he isn't registered as a player for them. Bizarrely, they chose not to register him but keep spaces open on the registration list - even after the window. He's still getting paid obviously, for doing nothing. Really weird and the explanation from the manager didn't really make sense.

The registration of a player and the squad list work slightly distinct from each other to the extent that you can be a registered player but not included on the squad list.

You are only deemed “out of registration” between transfer windows if the registration expires or is cancelled before the end of the preceding window - I.e for the recent window by 11pm on Feb 1st.

So Gayle could be registered by a club and play but Gregory cannot.

I would happily take Gayle as a player coach

Northampton have signed Liam Moore today until the end of the seasonal excellent signing.

It goes to show there are still good free agents out there. We have to find a way of getting a few through the door to give us a better chance of staying up. I still don't see how we can score enough goals to win matches.

We were staring relegation in the face in exactly the same circs when DC took over. If he could manage to get that horrendous lot in shape and go on the unbeaten run we did, then we have to be confident that DM can do the same. And that was with Robinson and Guthrie up front and Brisley at the back wasn't it?

Nah seriously, we gotta back him until the end of the season - maybe in the summer he moves on but for now he is a vale player!

I see Darren Moore's brother works in Finnish football. I wonder if he can advise on whether there are any free agent strikers from places like there?

He has no coaching experience and only ever relied on pace which has now deserted him. There must be better value out there. I would play Plant up there  when he returns as he seems to have played everywhere else.

DC made us difficult to beat and then we went from there. We need a repeat of that. Clean sheets would be enough to keep us up with a few more penalties and OG’s 😀
