Port Vale Supporters' Club committee members this evening met with administrator Bob Young to discuss the progress of Keith Ryder's takeover deal and news today that friendlies against Coventry and Tranmere are to be played behind closed doors amid safety concerns.

Mr Young said that although the takeover deal payment from Mr Ryder had yet to be received, he had received the 60,000 promised by Mr Ryder for the July wage bill and said that, in his opinion, this gesture along with previous payments were not those of someone who is not serious about completing the deal.

However, the administrators continue to look elsewhere in case the payment does not materialise while stressing that the door will remain open for Mr Ryder until someone else comes forward with a payment. Today Bob Young met with one interested party whilst his colleague Steve Currie has tonight met with another interested party.

Bob Young was also keen to rubbish claims that the funding for the administration would cost Stoke-on-Trent City Council more than £1 million.

Mr Young said " The funding agreement with the city council was for 450,000 and we have not drawn on all of that money yet. To suggest that it will cost over 1 Million is nonsense."

Regarding the safety certificate, the Supporters' Club has been informed that much of the safety work now required by the city council has never been asked for in previous years.

Supporters' Club representatives will be meeting with Bill Lodey tomorrow to fully understand what work is outstanding and we will be working closely with the club to do all we can.

Once we have a better understanding of the issues and requirements we hope to be able to appeal to the supporter base for help (either skilled or unskilled) and we're sure all Vale fans will rally around to help our club.

The priority will be to ensure everything is ready for fans to attend the Burnley game but we will also be looking at various options for the friendly matches including the possibility of having one stand open for fans.

Tomorrow we will have details of the funding, help and skills required along with details of how, where and when supporters can pledge their help. We also intend to hold a supporters' meeting one evening next week.

Supporters' Club Chairman Pete Williams said: "Vale fans deserve better. They have been and are still going through the mill. It's awful but the Supporters' Club won't let anyone down and will endeavour to keep people updated at every opportunity. Let's stick together and keep the faith. We're Vale aren't we?"

How about you read it tomorrow then and just pretend, or maybe they should have not said anything until 3 weeks on Wednesday. It never ceases to amaze me that someone will always find fault with absolutely anything.

One day and I'm sure by accident the SC will do something right, but then perhaps not!

Imo,the SC are doing a fantastic job, thanks for the update.
