A vital cog in the 85/86 promotion winning squad.

[Edit : it was Tranmere that we signed him from. And after we got promoted, Rudge sold him to Bournemouth for £30,000 - a decent profit]

Always remember him warming up - used to practice his heading, could almost reach half way line from about the penalty box. Great days 🥰

Remember watching him pre season at Parkway Clayton friendly - fair to say he had ‘enjoyed’ his summer break and had fitness levels more akin to the City Traders League.

 Once the season started however he was immense in Rudgie’s first promotion side - performance and character wise

He was one of the most dominant defenders in the air that I can remember and a key member of that promotion season.  

For the younger ones, second from the left on the back row...

An immense defender, tough, aggressive and uncompromising.  He was with us for just over a year.  The fact that he is so well remembered after such a short time, so long ago, is testament to his character and ability.

I played in the City Traders League and I resent your implication...bet he was never as unfit as I was! Used to "warm up" with 2 Marlboro and a can of coke plus a hangover. Ah,the glory days.
