That's a dreadful idea. Why would you want to take away another teams identity? What about the clubs fans? What you're encouraging there is the same sort of mentality the premier league clubs have; "I'm alright Jack" and forget about everyone else. Greed and disregard for those further down the pyramid is what's killing English football, it needs to be eradicated, not embraced.

 

MK Dons did that and it's stealing a clubs identity and history.

 

If you are going to do something like that it has to be the AFC Wimbledon or FC United way and start from scratch.

So many aspects of modern football disgust me. If Vale ceased to exist I think I could quite happily walk away from the game completely.

I don't think for a minute vale will fold, but as you say if it did, I think I would turn to none league football,Newcastle town comes to mind.

Maybe mo or some other wealthy businessman could build a team ready now... Maybe offer too buy Stafford or Kidsgrove out right... Change the name and off we go... Just think kidsgrove are 2 leagues away from us ain't they? Or Stafford are...

 

I'd had a simler idea about Norton United but as cheeky said we would be stealing their identity. In a sense we would be no better than MK Dons unless the fans of a club were fully supportive behind the idea and I know fans of kidsgrove and Stafford don't like vale so it is a no go. Unless Norton wanted it. It has happened with vale before with cobridge church becoming Port Vale.

That greed you talk about is the greed that runs through the current boardroom the "I'm alright Jack" and stuff the shareholders and supporters attitude,the Im getting a good screw for doing nothing and protecting my personal position makes me sick.

Some good answers, and most as i expected.... If it happened i suppose my 6 year old son would fall in love with another club, and i suppose there is always the chance it would be Stoke !

 

But of course this shouldn't matter anyway as Vale should be about in some form.

After supporting the Vale for 30 years it has to be either a new Port Vale of some form or nothing.How any supporter of any club can switch alliegance is beyond me.My wife is a season ticket holder at Stoke and will be in Valencia but not for me thanks.I would rather take up train spotting or something else more interesting.

IF Vale went bump and completely folded, losing the ground and the full infastructure ( extremely unlikely i know )
