Neil Aspin and John Rudge rejoin the Vale

Any manager is better than Morgan and Kelly but I will reserve judgement until after two or three games as to whether this appointment is the best for Port Vale.

2 or 3 games? What a ridiculous statement. Thats everything thats wrong with modern football these days, fans not willing to give people the time.

Sounds like they will be gone:

A statement from Norman Smurthwaite

Smurthwaite: “The last statement I made was in May was when I stood away. I’ve come back because that route didn’t work. You have to have clear leadership and to run a football club you need to steer it. I’ve decided what happened has past. There will be announcements today regarding staff changes. I would like to thank them for taking the steerage after Michael had gone. I did think they would go with Michael, which is why I approached Micky Adams.

“I did narrow it down to three candidates, of which Neil wasn’t one on Saturday morning, but Micky Adams persuaded me to start looking at a manager who I was talking about.

“There is no easy fix but this is an easy appointment. The true supporters of this club, I ask them to come down and support two people who have got legendary status at this club. Then the players can see the support there is rather than the fragmented nature it is in.

“I’m delighted to pull off this coup. This is the first appointment of the last three when they have got substantial pedigree.

Neil has got his own views and his own team. You will see that team in the dug out with him on Saturday. You will see his drive from this afternoon.”

Can't fault any of that statement, that old saying goes something like everyone makes mistakes even successful business men it's how you react to them that determines the future of your company and yourself.

Without doubt there is an enormous task ahead just to stablise the club. Lets hope our dream team get the chance to take us forward. Positivity is something that has been sucked out of the club over the last few seasons, I could not think of a better solution to reverse it.

Please please Smurf keep out of football decisions listen to JR his knowledge is priceless .

Wow! Brilliant news at last. Can we look forward to seeing a bit of stability now Sir John Rudge has returned with Aspo? His contacts all over the country and respect could be a bonus too. Norman can take a step back now and hopefully the club can move on. Let's hope less of social media comments too as we don't need them! !VTID

Thank you Lord for John Rudge, and his disciple Neil Aspin, onward now to the promised land.

we have had the most disastrous start to the year that any football club can have relegation then bottom of the league we've dropped into so the only way for us now is UP.Our newly appointed dream team will need plenty of time and luck in abundance but I'm sure that they can as port vale is in their DNA,BEST OF LUCK ,ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.UTV.

If you can't find fault in it, can you please explain it to me because it's not written in a language I understand.

Bloody hell just heard Aspins first interview on radio Stoke. Has Smurf told him he wants promotion by Xmas or something. Sounds really nervous lol

Sent from my Moto E (4) Plus using the onevalefan mobile app

Aspo's bound to be nervous he has the expectations of thousands of fans and the enormity of the job in hand, both John and Neil know that we are bottom of the pile for a reason so they need time luck and perseverance but they'll sort it,i've got a feeling in me water utv.

I wonder if Garlick will be leaving? - he's hardly been heard from since Brown was sacked.

He didn't look to happy at the press conference,he didn't want Brown to go and he wanted Horton and maybe he sees Rudge as a threat and damn right to,i would take Rudgie a million times over Garlick
