No sympathy is a bit harsh, he's only a lad. What were you like in your early twenty's? If he has to move on for the good of the Vale fair enough. But I do have some sympathy for him, thinking what I was like at that age.

 

Why did you get booted out of 3 jobs and on the verge of another in disgrace by the age of 24?

 

I don't know anyone of my mates that have.

 

I supported him when he signed, I supported through the Goonan **** but a week after saying Micky is the only Manager that can control him he behaves like a ****, time to stop with the sympathy and as Micky says he will need to work extremely hard to get anywhere near the team again particularly as the matchday squad is strong enough to have no place for McCombe, Dodds and the injured Collins.

When this came out I said a two week ban would effectively end his Vale career. I'd be very surprised if he wears a Vale shirt again.

True, but Roberts clearly came with baggage. If Adams didn't want to deal with it he'd never have signed the kid.

 

Ultimately there's a young lad with a serious problem. Morally, it doesn't sit well with me to just turn our collective back on him.

 

We all make mistakes. It's how we react that defines us. For the club, and I mean from manager to supporter, to simply shun the guy, would IMHO makes us no better than Gary for not turning up/turning up half cut.

 

I hope he sorts himself out. For his sake, and for ours.

I like a drink, and I had to do jobs that I hated and had to turn up every morning. And I did it. But I was **** poor, needed the money to keep body and soul together. I'm not defending Roberts at all, just saying that on a personal level I feel sorry for him. No one grows up until they are in their late 20's, and footballers are not forced to grow up even by then. It's a bit of sympathy for him as a person. From a PVFC point of view I think Adams is completely right.

TBF mate I think Gups has a point. MA said "he has a long way to go to get back into the team'...MA will have put him onto the transfer list to show him that there are no takers, thus meaning (hopefully) Gary sorts himself out and it is really his last chance.

I wish his so called mates would help him by getting him to go home at nights before his career is washed up and will they still want to hang around him then!.

I will miss the greatest talent that has been at the club for years but sorry Gary enough is enough. Get your head on before it's too late.
