Match thread: England v Malta

Poor 2nd half against a Malta side that surprisingly didn't seem to tire.

It's time for Rooney to retire. He slows everything down to walking pace and offers absolutely nothing to the team. These days his shooting is appalling on top of that.

I like how the same numpties post in every England thread saying that they hate England, aren't interested in International football blah blal blah. Not surprised that resident sad act and ultimate depressive, *********, is leading the charge.

Reported for personal abuse, as it seems nobody is allowed to express an opinion you don't like. I trust you found that second half magnificent, thrilling and scintillating.

You really ought to try to not fixate yourself on my opinion, when you could have been enjoying  that England goal-fest. Plenty of other people on this thread realised it would be rubbish, and more still realised they wasted their time watching a bunch of headless chickens.

Sell-out at Wembley.

England XI: Hart, Walker, Cahill, Stones, Bertrand, Henderson, Alli, Rooney, Lingard, Walcott, Sturridge.

Doesn't Wembley hold 90.000? Anyway, not 1 player in that England 11 would get into any decent international side. Cant even beat Malta in the 2nd half. Embarrassing.

Yes,disappointing that 8,282 fans who had bought tickets decided not to attend.Still 81,718 isn't a bad turnout considering the opposition on show.

1 centre forward at home to Malta!!

Henderson has found his level, had a reasonable first half, Rooney looks ***** still though.

The difference between those two players is Henderson takes two touches ,Rooney takes one.Rooney controls a game of footie,Henderson tries.

Some people watch a different game to me, Rooney was involved in virtually everything England did, his work rate off the ball is second to none, takes responsibility, is always open to receive a pass, tenacious and skilful and as you say controlled the game.

England just needed to win, they have another game on Tuesday so why on earth go busting a gut in the second half.

Not knocking Lingard but seen him play a few times now and still unsure what his strengths and best postion are, he doesn't look a winger, is too lightweight for a midfield player and doesn't look a natural finisher/goal scorer.
