An article on Saturday highlighted that we were after Neil Redfearn...for less than £40k per year...

"Then there is the story that reached me earlier in the summer about the vacancy for a new Port Vale manager. Neil Redfearn was interviewed and Port Vale, mid-table finishers in League One, liked what they saw. The talks broke down when Redfearn heard the salary was £40,000 a year – less than the kit man might earn at many Premier League clubs"

Seems an absurdly low salary offer had we been serious.

It depends what else he'd got on the table, sometimes you have to go down to come back up again in terms of career and/or salary.

Tyler Blackett 20k/year, no woner we can't get any loan players from Man U if that's the typical salary.

Who says we can't get any loan players from Utd? Have we tried? Have we been turned down? What do you know that the rest of us don't?

Karm down, Karm down. Of 'cause i don't know just a throw away comment based on a media article based on a reported salary. However, if the salary that these younger Man U players are on is similar 20k/week then unless Man U contribute a large proportion of money then it's unlikely to happen.

see that's the trouble with modern day football + money, im glad we didnt have neil redfearn then becoz in my eyes that's greed, what's neil redfearn ever done to entitle him to 100,000 a year?

In my eyes, the manager's job is the most important at the club. Let's assume that our top earning players are on 125k/year, why does the manager deserve to be paid only a third of that?

Whatever your thoughts on Rob Page (I wasn't exactly sad to see him leave), you can't blame someone for taking a sideways step if it means they're finally going to get paid the going wage for a L1 manager.
