I wasn't in attendance today so I can't comment on Roberts' display but after the first 3 months of last season he has been very poor since and scarcely warrants a place in the team any more.

He is wasting his talent and it's a crying shame.

JR was ok. He got pilloried on here by those who know nowt about football - even after scoring 14-15 goals for us last year. He wasn't a world beater but as you say always tried hard and we'll miss his goals. A team with money would have kept him in the squad as he would have been a more than useful player.

I'm slightly concerned that we might become very one dimensional with MR and Pope up front. We need a bit of pace and trickery up there rather than route one all the time. I guess you know what I mean!;)

Having watched JR play at torquay today it was apparent that he was playing well but that torquays defence was terrible. They have lost Guy Branston and it shows. When Crawley play torquay in a week or so I have a feeling that they will get humped.

Quite. Better to replace him with someone who contributes sod all over a season, with the exception of one or two games eh?

I never said I was a fan of his replacement. They are both players with little ability.

I do expect Pope to score a similar amount of league goals.

He wasn't good enough....correct decision to release him. Not bothered that we didn't keep him and not bothered we didn't sign Davies, give strikers enough chances and they will score, the balls we put into the box yesterday were shocking, that's where we need to improve. Crawley put some cracking crosses into the box and got 2 goals from them.

anyone eating humble pie?

He' not the best we've had by a long way, however he's scored more than Riggs, Haldene & co.

Pope looks more like a player that Rico can feed off. If Pope scores more and is a better all round player then it was a good call by MA. If J Richards gets 20 plus then the vale WILL be eating humble pie.

TWIGGY- one swallow does'nt make a summer, 2 goals does'nt make a prolific goal scorer we'll be regretting getting rid of.
