Season over - work with what we have got?

I actually think it's pointless 'blooding the youngsters' as, unless the manager has any plans to use them long term, it just smacks of tokenism. Sadly, it doesn't seem like any of last year's first year professionals have what it takes (if their progress on trial in the semi-pro leagues is anything to go by). I'm not sure if NS's long term strategy of buying rejects from Premiership clubs and selling for a profit is an ongoing thing as I don't think we've actually bought anyone for that squad this season. I can't remember which manager said it - could have been Adams, Sinnott or Jim - but we do have a problem with kids developing from promising youth player to first team player and any owner with a long term view would be looking at this. The current batch must be on a pittance so I wouldn't look at scrapping contracts or anything but I would look at sending them on season long loans at lower league clubs rather than a month or two here and there.

Also, even if he was fit I wouldn't be bringing Nathan Smith back from his loan at Torquay. They're in the middle of a battle for survival (one which they look like winning, against all odds) so in terms of both our reputation as a lending club and Smith's progression, he should be left to see the seaon out down there.

Oh yeah, I'd release O'Connor at the end of the season too.

And on the rare occasion that we do develop a promising youth player,we drive them out?

I didn't say he was the bee's knees, far from it. He had a decent game on Saturday regardless of his shouting at the ref that's all I said. I don't like referees bottling it but goodness he didn't half do so on Saturday for some of their challenges. Had the ref dished out cards for cynical fouls then they may have finished the game with less than the full compliment. Why am I helping make your mind up, what leverage have I got to make Page keep players or get rid. Most bizarre thing I read in a while.

To be fair as one of his biggest critics he did have a decent game, especially second half with that penalty area tackle but his tantrum attitude game after game is ridiculous and is not befitting of a captain.

Sometimes in life things go against you / other people make poor decisions that affect you but if we all reacted like that at work we wouldn't have jobs. I like passion but measured in a positive way. Imagine if every time he misplaced a pass to a team mate (which happens a lot) that they reacted to him in the same way that he does to referees.

I agree with the Dicko thing 'petulant' was the term I used and he does need to concentrate on his own game rather than scream at the ref or blame others for his shortcomings. Just found it odd that someone would have his mind made up whether or not to go to Vale next season because of a post on a message board.

I agree with that, then again I think it's odd people don't want to go because they don't like the chairman.

The only reason to go for me is because you enjoy the sport and love the club normally as a result of attending with family and friends as a kid and forming a bond, ultimately it's a leisure pass time, it isn't life or death or as important as family or personal health however much people joke and say it is.

I do love the passion of football but if people no longer want to go or can't afford they don't need to make up excuses, simply don't go, it's tiring and depressing hearing people bang on and on about why they no longer go, tell the club, not those of us who still love it and have a passion for it. My daughter used to go to ballet as a small child, she loved it and I hated it but I didn't moan at her constantly telling her it was rubbish and that her teacher didn't care about her! I let her make her own mind up after a few years she was wasting her time and it was rubbish
