Vale arrest figures

This morning the Home Office has released the football related arrest figures for the 2014-15 season and sadly, they do not make happy reading for Vale. Only two clubs in League One had more arrests than Vale - Barnsley and Sheffield United. In the whole of League One there were only 10 arrests for racial and indecent chanting - 7 of them were Vale fans.

Exceptionally sad and absolutely no excuse for it. The sooner we can oust these types of people out of the club and civilised society in general the better for everyone, the police, the club, the chairman and 99% of decent fans amongst us.

Only ten arrested in the whole season for racist chanting proves the point that as a country we are not a racist nation. And the fact that thousands of people are being tarred as racist means that these figures fly in the face of that.

True, but why so many at VP? At more than one game?

Jean were these arrests or convictions for racist chanting, there's a world of difference.

I'm not condoning anything, but remember burslem seem to have very enthusiastic members of the constabulary. Especially where Port Vale football club is concerned.

The heading on the spreadsheet is offences, but the document is "Football related arrests and banning orders", maybe Jean has more info.

The same police force made 2 arrests of Stoke fans for such chanting. No doubt this will be put down to bias against the Vale though.

There were four or five arrested at the one game for racist chanting who were later cleared in a court of law, those figures don't take that into account.

Equally, they don't take account of the considerable number of fans who were guilty of racist chanting in that game and weren't arrested.

Whichever way you look at it, these figures are a deperessing reflection on our club. That Vale had 10% of all the arrests in our league when we had nowhere near 10% of the attendances is disappointing.

Vale have an hooligan element and to be honest for a club that averages 5,000 it's got a lot of hooligans.Anyone who doubts this is fooling themselves. We have all been to away games and when the boys (and that's the word we know) turnout then there's a lot of them from all ages.

This is well known throughout the lower leagues.

It's not nice granted but the fact is we all know the faces and like it or not it's a subculture genre thats attached to Vale.

Vales hooligan element is respected at an higher level of football thugs. The VLF know this and it gives young wannabes an identity and it's growing season by season.
