Congratulations to Jeremy Corbyn

I am thrilled!

Port Vale have a 100% record under JC.

On a serious note, I found it inspiring and invigorating to hear a Labour leader state "We don't have to be unequal, it doesn't have to be unfair, poverty isn't inevitable - thinks can and will change.". Corbyn is a huge gamble and the odds are stacked against us, but what have we got to lose?

what have we got to lose?

Any chance of forming a government?

Being a credible opposition to the tories?

He swings more than a kids playground and some of his ideas are well wide of normality.... but perhaps he will make labour labour again... I hope he does because they are cack at being conservatives.

He needs to go and run China or North Korea with his communistic values, he's got about as much chance in the UK as I have of being PM!

He has a chance... if he can pull the dissenters around to follow him, which wont be all the way to the left but much further than they have been for many years... it wont be easy.

The only real problem with communism is humans and their greed... take humans out of the equation and it would work perfectly... but that could be said for capitalism too

and would Liz effing Kendall have provided us with either of those? Andy Burnham? I really doubt it. Instead of the optimism, the unprecedented groundswell of support, the incredible growth in membership, we'd have had another boring identikit politician, talking about 'hard working families'. I know that JC is very far from perfect but if he succeeds in turning Labour in to an inclusive, campaigning party that speaks and works for the people that it is supposed to represent, then I'm glad he won.

Grow up.

So his beliefs don't mirror theirs?

I spoke to one of the exec members of one of the biggest trade unions in the UK last week and even he feared for the future of the Labour Party if this crackpot got in.

You can mock all you like but imagine if we did actually have someone like that in charge of the country.

Andy Burnham would have been the better choice, left leaning but nowhere near as extreme.

Dont misunderstand.... he was he best choice to change labour and it needed changing... I just offered ideas of what could be lost as you asked.... if he can connect the party with the people it used to represent it could be a massive gain

The election of the labour (shadow) cabinet was ended back at the start of Ed Miliband's leadership, so JC can't really be blamed for this. I do think that he'll choose as wide a ranging as possible (eng?) cabinet in an attempt to assuage some of the Blairites. Some of the chumps who have resigned can just do one though. He has a massive mandate and for them to then run off shrieking is a disgrace.
