Football League Tonight programme

Nothing to do with whining - the programme was enjoyed by millions previously, if you are prepared to put up with dross and tat then watch it and walk around with a big smile all day thinking it is wonderfl, but some of us want better and it isn't just a triviality like the colour of wallpaper in the studio, the whole programme stinks of cheap cost-cutting from start to finish.

It is the TV equivalent of our cup exit to Chasetown if you remember that.

Unfortunately I do remember it, still have nightmares about it!

I saw a page on the internet yesterday where the show was inviting people to "wear your colours in the studio" and "come along with your mates".

They're clearly sticking with this "we're down with the kids / footy banter" theme.....despite plummeting viewing figures and a generally negative response from people.

More action & goals, less chat - is that so hard?

I saw a figure of 1.1 mill

People aren't in the habit of watching CH5 and it's possibly on too early. Plus the cr@pness (viewed or reported by others) will put some off

I dare bet that the Women's Football Show which was on last night drew as many viewers as the Channel 5 effort?

People going on about C5 FLT just as well that ITV don't have the show, the England coverage with Hoddle I think is embarrassing. Hoddle's not got a clue and is as dull as dishwater and the football's not much better.

Glenn Hoddle is deathly dull (how ironic that many of football's artists - Hoddle, Henry, Gullitt etc are dull off the pitch) but I personally found that the bellowing of Rooney's name whenever he received the ball anywhere near the ball was as irritating.

Every time the ball went towards him there was a shout of "RRRROOONEY!"

Record it. Fast forward through the chat and watch the goals. Works for me.

Exactly - or as an even simpler alternative, just hit the "mute" button. I used to do that all the time with Claridge and Rosenior and especially when "Clem" came on to patronise another lower league club...

To me, both the BBC and C5 shows have faults - but I guess it takes an awful lot to produce a show that will please everyone, all the time.

Even so, having said all that, out of all the former footballers they could pick as pundits, who on earth thought Adam Virgo was a good idea!
