Fans urged to wear white at Crewe

So, so embarrassing and patronising.

I just hope no-one is actually getting paid in the course of coming up with these sort of ideas.

I'd love to have a chat with whoever thinks these sort of things up.

Not sure whats so embarrassing. Sounds like a good idea to get people more involved in the game, generate atmosphere and encourage support to me. We are all different though, so don't take it personally :)

In what way is it embarrasing... lots of clubs do things like this to generate an atmosphere.

Let's get one thing straight, it's got nothing to do with atmosphere- it's to sell shirts.

I agree with Smithie, this one is shameless. How does everyone wearing white generate atmosphere!?! It doesn't

It will look great as the teams come out. Straight in the view of both sets of players.

I'm reasonably confident the Vale players will be able to identify where the Vale fans are situated, with or without 2000 white shirts.

I'm similarly confident the Vale fans will make some noise regardless of what they are wearing.

It's amazing that someone can work at a working-class football club and be so green about the fans' culture. We've lasted nearly 140 years without needing to be told how to support the side.

These kind of drippy initiatives may work at Reading or Watford but that's because their followings are muppets.

Ask any footballer if they are inspired by thousands of replica shirts or by vocal backing and I'm sure it's the latter.

I wonder if this is the same person who decided towards the end of last season that way fans should be put as far away from the Paddock as possible - at a stroke killing off any banter and chanting between the two sets of fans?

"Stand AMF".
