I'll reserve judgement. When did a manager sign a player and say that he was no good. Both have been 'around the block' with several club so I shouldn't get too excited just yet.

hahaaaa. Williamson just turned down a contract with a team flying high in the league above us. Also has a glowing reference from their manager.

Seems a bit strange to me. Both players are registered with Hyde, yet we only sign one of them permanently. I don't really get it, tbh (without maing up some conspiracy theory).

 

Surely Hyde won't be holding out for a lot of money on players that have very limited experience.

I don't understand why Hyde have their registrations though. Burge signed a short term contract with Doncaster last season and Williamson was on a similar deal with Bournemouth.

 

Is this something to do with the Glenn Hoddle Academy? All seems rather odd. Still, welcome to Vale. Not overwhelmed by these players but then again Rob Taylor came from non-league and has done well for us.

Was Burge registered with Hyde United just so the Glenn Hoddle Academy could get a fee via a third party?

 

If he's under 24 and out of contract, we wouldn't have to pay anything if we signed him from a foreign club. In the same way that Beira Mar didn't have to pay us a fee for McPhee.

As with any new players I think we should judge them once we've seen them play regardless to what they cost or where they come from, Ian Taylor and Andy Jones remain my two favourite players:)
