Papa Smurf picking the team!

Norman and RP's worry must be that three of the under performing back four are under contract for next season and if they dig their heels in and are happy to stay and pinch a wage, it will have a big dent on next years budget.

Next years budget will be a league two budget so with less gate revenue that's part and parcel with the bottom league and poorer quality football thing should be easier to manage its the following year after that when we are in the conference things will really bite and become closer to reality for deluded vale fans

Good god I'm going start taking happy pills before coming on here just lately. 😂. Lighten up Guys. People take Twitter and social media far too seriously. And let's be honest, he couldn't do much worse than the defence we've got, considering its got more holes in than a box of ruddy PG tips 😂

Oi ! Leave me out of this  , nothing wrong with my 'bags' but you're rite about the holes in the defence !

You're also rite about the saddos who hang on to everything they see and hear

Norm is spot on , just wish he'd keep it to himself and deal with it without broadcasting to the doom and gloom merchants , just gives them any excuse to have a go .

Good post

Get them loaned out with the loanee club paying part wages.

They wouldn't go out this year, so why do you think they will go out next season. Some players are just happy to sit on the bench and pick up a wage, proving that a lot of them are brain dead and wonder why clubs only offer a short term loan in the first place and not sign them on a contract.

Do you not get tired of making stuff, putting the club and it's staff down and generally making a right *** of yourself?

If players cannot play at this level then they have to be loaned out to a lower league outfit .

Theres not enough.about the players ,there efforts need to be greater .

Corners have we even scored from.one this season.,do they lack bottle.

Yet we can be in.no.danger yet concede the most pathetic goals .

Id make wholesale changes surely.a footballer wants be a winner and will give blood for the cause.

Todays football is a big disappointment ,dont they.c what sacrifices folk go ti watch them,no sleep for me Chesterfield away and i had go work it was pathetic the performance ,it was a localish derby and we didnt turn up !

Well done Smurf no point slagging the players off there limited, there best is not good enough.

Having read a lot of what NS has said, I think he has two "hats" when it comes to he Vale; his owner "hat" and his "fan" hat. How I see it, because of his passion for the vale, the lines between the two become a little blurred at time and when he speaks on social media, I think he's doing so, more with his fan "hat" on. I mean let's be honest, is he saying anything different to what we have been saying/thinking?

Norman's off the cuff comments and later analysis like legal documents will create lots of opinions. Inserting a "?" can change the meaning completely, Maintaining interest in the club is also important, so carry on Norman, no matter what you say someone will twist it, but most will get the general drift.

Punctuation can drastically change sentences, that's why lawyers don't use it in legal documents. For example-

Norman has stated that he would be issuing P45's to several of the squad selected by Page. He clearly sees the same as we do sat in his roof top position. What does concern me therefore is why oh why is Page therefore selecting the same old, same old, underperforming players? If we and the Owner are obvious to the deficiencies in the squad why is Page unable to change his actions by picking certain players so clearly lacking?

It is obvious who has not played well for some time yet they still find their names in the 1st team squad and more depressingly actually in the 1st 11. It has not worked for a while so change for other squad players to actually play in their "best" positions has been needed but still the Manager persists in selecting the usual, consistently poor players! It's no wonder we are all frustrated and crowds are declining.

Come the end of May and Norm has promised there will be a few leaving and not offered contracts or asked to go on loan again. Will Page be then given permission to seek out players "he" wants? That will be the time we will be able to see if he honestly accepts quite a few in the squad are not worthy of progressing Vale further? In the meantime we have to bide our time and see if we can achieve consolidation and stay in this Division. Norm has repeatedly shown his hand and again dipped into the coffers to secure what we hopefully have all been crying out for in a tall, commanding, young, efficient centre half.

So who is picking the team? Is it really Page? Or how much influence is Glover having, or Grew for that matter? Or the players? Something's not right and, for me, the Chairman speaking his mind is a good reminder to the management and players that they are under scrutiny.

So it might just be that we see some change today, both in the selection and performance and, even better, in the result.

UTV.

From the following quote it sounds like Smurthwaite is still very much involving himself with the footballing side of things (ie which players we sign/he likes), despite insisting that Page has full control over this -

The chairman told BBC Radio Stoke: “I am going off to Notts County now to watch a kid that I like the look of...
- although as Grew is also going maybe its better that Smurthwaite does scout the players for himself?!
