I thought it was a great atmosphere yesterday, helped by a decent following from Crewe. I'm really glad we can still muster a noisy and passionate turn-out, as it definitely makes for a better day at the match.

 

That sort of away support yesterday would be the norm in the Championship, with all but a handful of clubs bringing at least 1000 to Vale Park. Just imagine Forest, Leeds, Wednesday, Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves etc bringing their great support.

 

I'd like to think we could average 8,000 in that league if we ever get there......even if we rely on the away support to do it!

Unfortunately playing like yesterday will more likely get us to the Conference rather than the Championship! Yes, a good atmosphere with the extra numbers in the ground, but performances like yesterday's are only going to prove a deterrent for uncommitted viewers. Attendances not much more than half of yesterday's are likely to be the norm for the remainder of this season unless we improve dramatically!

Surely, the main positive from the aftermath of the Crewe match is Norman's statement that it has convinced him to invest to eventually get us into the Championship. That is top news.

 

When was that statement made can't find it anywhere thanks
