I'm not sure where Loft was meant to be playing today. It certainly wasn't on the left though, which is his only effective position. Solid player for us but he would struggle to get a regular game in this current midfield.

I thought he was very poor. Gills fans have put him down as their worst signing... Wouldn't get near our midfield.

I just cant get my head around all this critism of Doud Loft. He was an outstanding player for Port Vale and did what he was asked to do as true professional player and captain. He won many many man of the match awards along side Tom Pope and now we read all the vile on here that is totally uncalled for. Short memories some of you lot.Get a grip.

Outstanding? Crikey, what does that make the likes of Foyle, Guppy, Ainsworth etc...? Loft was a solid lower league player who gave 100% for us. No criticism there, but we have moved on to bigger and better things in my opinion. He got a good reception before and after the game so not everyone will have short memories :)

In context, I agree with Beza. He was a good captain, who would have played in goal if asked.

His reaction towards Lines today was little short of pathetic (and deserving off a booking) and made to look extraordinary when the lad who had been "injured" made a recovery that Lazarus would have been proud of when required to next sprint for the ball having had no treatment for his "injury".
