Premier League 14/15 (Not just Liverpool talk)

Completely choosing to ignore the fact that Rodgers tried to sign both Alexis Sanchez and then Marco Reus as Suarez's actual replacement. Lambert was only ever bought in as a squad player while Balotelli was a gamble from the very beginning, a gamble that obviously hasn't come off.

In all seriousness what player, realistically, could have replaced a player like Suarez? Outside of the obvious two he's the best player in the world.

In all honesty Liverpool just aren't the draw they were in years gone by to top players and a big factor in that has to be the manager who isn't a name that's going to attract the best.

It seems to have passed a few people by, but Leicester have been magnificent if you look at the last 2 months - and Nigel Pearson has been my manager of the season for the way he got his team out of trouble when all were howling for his dismissal.

The way they are playing right now, they are the best team in the Prem. in the last few weeks.

Like I said on the Facts about football thread earlier on today, since the beginning of April,Leicester City(19)have won more PL points than any other top flight team, next best are Chelsea with 17 points.

Excellent run of form.

You're obviously not one of the people it passed by ! Didn't see your post, but I.m glad someone else noticed it as sometimes the bigger clubs get all the spotlight and noteworthy things like this go unnoticed.:)

I haven't and wouldn't disagree. But my original point about Suarez remains. Also, Rodgers can't be blamed for Sturridge missing the vast majority of the season either after being outstanding and mostly fit and available in the previous campaign. Losing one of those would have obviously been a blow but to lose both of them for the season, excluding the odd game here and there, was always going to have a huge impact on Liverpool's season.

Rodgers has made a number of mistakes this season that he should be held responsible for, but there have also be issues that have been somewhat beyond his control too. I still think he's a very promising young manager, but whether he has taken Liverpool as far as he can is a different question altogether.

22 points worse off Liverpool are than last season is surely a concern Beechy lad. They've scored only 4 more goals than Stoke, but let in 3 more goals than Stoke too. For a team, that came so close to winning the league last season and yet fall so far behind is just crazy, and think just proves how much Suarez carried you last season. But no doubt you'll say Sturridge and Sterling played their parts too last season, which tbf they did, but when you got a world class striker in Suarez in your team, im sure Kyle Perry would score few goals too if played along side Suarez..

Suarez made a big difference to the side only in the same way that other world-class players make the difference for theirs. You can't just try to make out that Sturridge and Sterling were outstanding last season only because of Luis Suarez, as that's ridiculous. They were outstanding because they are both very good players and they were playing in a confident and thriving Liverpool team last season. Sturridge has barely played this season and Sterling's form has suffered for a number of reasons.

He clearly brought something out in both of them neither has found this season.

Seriously?

Sturridge has been injured for most of the season. When he has played he hasn't been 100% match fit obviously. Sterling's form has dipped as to be expected from a 20 year old still very much learning the game.
