RIP Jimmy.

I imagine many of you will agree with me, that What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted is no mere pop record: in its instrumentation, its production, and in Jimmy Ruffin's performance, it's a sublime work of art.

Can you believe my wife snogged Jimmy up the Torch. Her claim to fame I believe it's called. Top song though.

Yes, I agree entirely. What a piece of work that song is. So simple but yet with that Motown sound. Great voice. RIP Jimmy Ruffin

Timeless. First 45 I ever bought.

Had the option to book him for the millennium.

One of life's great regrets that I did not take it up.

Richard Searling played his version of "He Who Picks a Rose" as a dedication for my 40th.

Personal favourite is "I've Passed This Way Before" and probably most appropriate. Have a listen.

Great guy, fantastic legacy.

RIP Jimmy!

Another of the Motown greats gone! His brother David was the lead singer of the Temptations(who I'm a big fan of too!) in the 60s

Didn't What Becomes get to No 2 or 3 on that top 20 Motown songs programme on ITV recently? Was certainly up there!

Only 1 of the original Temptations remains and 1 of the Four Tops I think!

Very Sad,

I liked "hold on to your love"

Motown and soul in general is the music of my youth and Jimmy was one of the greats

Songs like "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" transcend generations due to their quality- my fondness for the record comes from my mum playing stuff like that when I was young.

Going back 40+ years, before internet and hundreds of TV channels, in order to get famous and to stay successful you had to be very very talented. The likes of Jimmy Ruffin and his generation, whether it be singers, film stars like Paul Newman, sportsman like George Best, have a longevity to them because they were supremely talented, which is something that's been diluted these days- I mean just look at some of the drongo's in the media nowadays!!!

I'm with you on that.
